VIDEO: Steven Tyler previews PBS Front And Center performance

Steven Tyler is previewing his upcoming appearance on the PBS series Front And Center with a performance of “Piece Of My Heart”, an Erma Franklin single made famous by Janis Joplin via Big Brother And The Holding Company.

The rocker performed an acoustic set at the Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City, New York on September 10 that featured stripped-down renditions of Aerosmith classics and his debut solo country single “Love Is Your Name.”

Tyler was joined by Loving Mary, a band featuring longtime collaborator Marti Frederiksen, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Lindsey Lee and Eric Paslay — as well as Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.

"Steven Tyler is one of the greatest creative minds of our time," says Front And Center Executive Producer Don Maggi. "To have him in this setting stripping down his music to the essence of what makes a great song — paying tribute to that craft — is an honor for us."

The Tyler episode will premiere on PBS stations the week of February 29.

The Aerosmith singer continues to work on his debut solo album, which is expected this year.

Tyler issued “Love Is Your Name” last spring, and will debut a second track, “Red White And You”, later this month.
