hennemusic is pleased to host the live stream of Metallica performing at Berkeley, CA's Rasputin Music in celebration of Record Store Day 2016.
The group were named official Ambassadors for the ninth annual event in support of independent record stores and record store culture worldwide.
“Record stores are where our musical education began and was subsequently nurtured and shaped, playing a huge role in who we are as musicians today,” says Metallica. “Since this special day’s inception back in 2008 with ten exclusive releases, the celebration has spread worldwide and expanded to almost 350 unique offerings from a wide variety of artists this year.
“It’s important for us to support this cause and encourage music fans everywhere to experience the exciting, inspiring, nostalgic journey through the world of music stores that we were fortunate enough explore in our formative years.”
In addition to the live in-store performance in Berkeley, Metallica are marking Record Store Day with a new live release, “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! - Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France - June 11th, 2003”, a CD featuring a live recording from the club.
The group, Record Store Day and independent record stores are donating proceeds from sales of the project to victims of the attacks in Paris last November via Fondation de France's Give For France charity.
