VIDEO: Neil Young and Jimmy Fallon perform on The Tonight Show

Neil Young joined host Jimmy Fallon for a unique acoustic performance on NBC-TV’s The Tonight Show on Tuesday.

The pair delivered a new, environmentally-conscious tune entitled "Two Neil Youngs On A Tree Stump", which they delivered while sitting center stage on a stump surrounded by fog and mist.

"Two Neil Youngs on a tree stump/ Where did the other Neil come from?/ Came from the future back to the past to warn your ass," the duo sang as the stump rotated. "We're two Neil Youngs/ Sitting on a tree stump/ Used to be a tree trunk/ But look at what we've done/ Said the father to the son/ The leaves on the trees had to leave and the air that we breathe is gone."

The surprise appearance by Young provided the singer with an opportunity to promote his newly-released live album, “Earth.”

The set mixes 2015 concert readings with the Promise Of The Real band – featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Micah and Lukas – alongside ambient elements like car horns, insects and animal sounds.

Young and Fallon have previously teamed up to perform a duet of his 1972 classic, “Old Man”, with the host decked out in full Neil gear.
