Bruce Springsteen tops 2016 tours list

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band top a mid-year report of the highest-grossing tours of 2016.

According to Billboard, Springsteen performed 45 shows to more than 1.1 million fans for a total gross of just over $135 million dollars.

The New Jersey rocker has been on the road across North America and Europe this year in support of last December’s release of “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection”, a 7-disc collection of material from the sessions for 1980’s double album “The River.”

Madonna landed in second place in the mid-year review with a gross of $123 million, with Beyonce third at $96 million.

Other rockers to make the Top 10 includes The Rolling Stones at No. 4 ($83 million), David Gilmour at No. 7 ($42 million) and Iron Maiden at No. 8 ($35 million).

Springsteen’s current European trek wraps up in Zurich, Switzerland on July 31, following which he’ll resume The River Tour at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on August 23.

The 2016 run will end at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA on September 14.

Springsteen will publish his autobiography, “Born To Run”, on September 27 via Simon & Schuster.
