Bruce Springsteen streams new collection Tracks II The Lost Albums

Bruce Springsteen is streaming his new collection, “Tracks II: The Lost Albums”, in sync with its June 27 release.

The set delivers 83 songs over seven previously-unheard Springsteen records – from the lo-fi exploration of “LA Garage Sessions ’83” – serving as a crucial link between “Nebraska” and “Born in the U.S.A.” – to the drum loop and synthesizer sounds of “Streets of Philadelphia Sessions,” “The Lost Albums” offer unprecedented context into 35 prolific years (1983-2018) of Springsteen’s songwriting and home recording.

“The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions,” explains Springsteen..

Throughout the package, that sonic experimentation takes the form of film soundtrack work (for a movie that was never made) on “Faithless,” country combos with pedal steel on “Somewhere North of Nashville,” richly-woven border tales on “Inyo” and orchestra-driven, mid-century noir on “Twilight Hours.”

The 2025 release fills in rich chapters of Springsteen’s expansive career timeline – while offering invaluable insight into his life and work as an artist.

“’The Lost Albums’ were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,” says Springsteen. “I’ve played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”

The collection was compiled by Springsteen with producer Ron Aniello, engineer Rob Lebret and supervising producer Jon Landau at Thrill Hill Recording in New Jersey.

“The Lost Albums” is available in limited-edition LP, CD and digital formats – including distinctive packaging for each previously-unreleased record, with a 100-page cloth-bound, hardcover book featuring rare archival photos, liner notes on each lost album from essayist Erik Flannigan and a personal introduction on the project from Springsteen himself.

A companion set — “Lost And Found: Selections from The Lost Albums” — is also now available on two LPs or one CD.

Bruce Springsteen has been nominated for a 2024 Grammy Award.

The New Jersey rocker’s 2022 record, “Only The Strong Survive”, is a finalist in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category.

The covers project sees Springsteen record new versions of tracks from the catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax, and many more.

As for the covers record, Springsteen told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon that he “was trying to make a record that was centered around singing. So I finally came around to the realization that the greatest vocal music is, of course, gospel music and then soul music."

Bruce Springsteen postpones remaining 2023 concerts over medical issue

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for the remainder of 2023 due to a medical issue with the singer.

“Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor's advice,” announced the rocker’s social media team. “With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024. Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, all taking place at their originally scheduled venues.

“When the new 2024 dates are announced, those unable to attend on the new date who purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have 30 days to request a refund. All tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.

“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support,” says Springsteen. “I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year."

Bruce Springsteen postpones September concerts over medical issue

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023 due to a medical issue with the singer.

“Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease,” the group announced, “and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows.”

Springsteen made the following comment: “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon.

“Love and God bless all, Bruce”

In the weeks prior to Springsteen’s announcement, the rocker had already moved a pair of August dates in Philadelphia, PA to the summer of 2024 on short notice after the singer had “been taken ill.”

The latest postponement delays eight scheduled events this month along the US east coast, including two nights in Pittsburgh, PA and stops in Connecticut, New York, Ohio and DC, among others.

“Ticketholders will receive information regarding rescheduled dates for the postponed shows,” says Springsteen’s team.

The series is currently scheduled to resume with a run of eight Canadian dates starting November 3 in Vancouver, BC.

“The National Medal of Arts recipients have helped to define and enrich our nation’s cultural legacy through their life long passionate commitment,” said National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are a better nation because of their contributions. Their work helps us see the world in different ways. It inspires us to reach our full potential and recognize our common humanity. I join the President in congratulating and thanking them.”

Bruce Springsteen performs Commodores classic Nightshift on The Tonight Show

Bruce Springsteen performed the Commodores classic hit, “Nightshift”, on the third night of his residency on NBC-TV’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on November 16.

“An essential song selection in the early creation of ‘Only The Strong Survive’, the track inspired Springsteen, his producer Ron Aniello and engineer Rob Lebret to christen themselves ‘The Night Shift’ while finishing this new record,” according to the singer’s camp. “Nightshift” was first recorded by The Commodores on Motown Records in 1985, serving as a tribute to late soul music heroes Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson just after they passed.”

The newly-released album, “Only The Strong Survive”, sees the New Jersey rocker cover tracks from the catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax, and many more.

The episode followed a November 14 interview and performance of the 1965 Frank Wilson soul classic, “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)”, and a November 15 performance of the singer’s take on the 1970 Tyrone Davis hit, “Turn Back The Hands Of Time”.

Bruce Springsteen is streaming his new soul covers album, “Only The Strong Survive”, in sync with its release on November 11.

The project features fifteen soul music greats as the rocker celebrates gems from the legendary catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax, and many more.

“I wanted to make an album where I just sang,” says Springsteen. “And what better music to work with than the great American songbook of the Sixties and Seventies? I’ve taken my inspiration from Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin, the Iceman Jerry Butler, Diana Ross, Dobie Gray, and Scott Walker, among many others.
