Sammy Hagar joined country superstar Kenny Chesney to perform his signature 1984 hit, “I Can’t Drive 55”, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on August 6.

“I couldn't believe hearing 50,000 people scream 55 at the top of their lungs!!,” says Hagar. “Certainly one of the highlights of my year musically so far!! Always love hanging and playing with Kenny.”

The longtime friends have joined each other on stage several times through the years, with Chesney a regular guest at Hagar’s annual Birthday Bash series at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The lead single from Hagar’s eighth album, “VOA”, “I Can’t Drive 55” peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped earn the project platinum status for US sales of more than 1 million copies.

Supergroup The Circle – which features Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson – will return to the road for more US dates starting August 24 in Tulalip, WA.

Formed in 2014, the group released their first live DVD, “At Your Service”, last December.
