Metallica announce North American stadium tour

Metallica have announced dates for a 25-show summer stadium tour of North America in support of their No. 1 album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct.”

The band’s first trek across the continent in eight years will begin at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD on May 10 and wrap up in Edmonton, Alberta on August 16.

“It certainly has been way too long and we are beyond excited to be visiting all of our friends in North America,” said the group. “We’re also psyched to announce that after joining us in Minneapolis last year, Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat have graciously signed on to be the main support acts for the run.” Gojira will also appear at select dates.

Presale tickets will be available to Legacy Fan Club members beginning on February 14 at 9:00 a.m. local time, with presale tickets available to all Met Club members beginning on February 14 at 11:00 a.m. local time.

A Citi cardmember pre-sale for US concerts will start February 14 at 11:00 a.m. local time, with general public seats on sale beginning February 17 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Each ticket purchased will come with a copy of the "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct" album, available as a physical CD or a digital download.

In sync with the tour news, Metallica has announced the formation of their All Within My Hands Foundation, which will raise funds to support a cross-section of national, local and Bay Area charities that the individual band members support, along with continuing to donate to music education programs and local food banks. Through a collaboration with Crowdrise, the band encourages fans to make a donation when purchasing tickets to the upcoming shows.

Metallica made headlines with their Sunday night performance of “Moth Into Flame” with Lady Gaga at the 59th annual Grammy Awards. The appearance was marred by technical problems, with frontman James Hetfield’s microphone not working for about half of the song.
