Guns N’ Roses cancel South American tour

Guns N’ Roses have cancelled their fall tour of South America.

Scheduled to begin in the Dominican Republic on November 8, the 5-week series included shows originally booked for this past March but were delayed due to the pandemic.

"To all our friends and Gunners in South America,” says the band, “The GNR South American 2020 tour dates have been cancelled by the promoters of the shows due to the COVID-19 health mandates and restrictions established by all the various local and national authorities. However, the safety and well-being of our fans, team and community remains our highest priority.

"These tour dates will not be rescheduled at this time due to the current impact of COVID-19 around the world.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. We are working on putting together a new Latin/South America tour. Please hang in there for further details once dates are locked in.

"Local promoters will issue detailed plans for all ticket refunds."

Guns N’ Roses have reportedly been working on new music while the global live music industry essentially remains on lockdown.

Slash first shared details about their plans back in January, while Duff McKagan’s wife confirmed the news during an interview in April.

"I will say GN'R have been working fastidiously on killer new stuff,” Susan Holmes-McKagan explained. “And I can't say much, but I've heard bits and bobs and it's pretty epic. I do wanna spread the good news, but not detailed news, I guess."

The project would represent the follow-up to 2008’s “Chinese Democracy.”
