Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction inducted into Grammy Hall Of Fame

Guns N’ Roses’ classic debut album, “Appetite For Destruction”, is among ten recordings set to be inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame this spring.

The iconic rock record will be recognized by The Recording Academy alongside albums by De La Soul, Buena Vista Social Club, and Lauryn Hill, and singles by Donna Summer, Charley Pride, Wanda Jackson, Kid Ory's Creole Orchestra, The Doobie Brothers, and William Bell.

Each year recordings are reviewed by a special member committee comprised of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts, with final approval by the Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees.

With 10 new titles, the Hall now currently totals 1,152 inducted recordings.

"We're proud to unveil the diverse mix of recordings entering the Grammy Hall Of Fame in its 50th year," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement. "The music showcased here has played a pivotal role in shaping our cultural landscape, and it's a true honor to recognize these albums and recordings, along with the profound influence each has had on music and beyond."

The inducted recordings, which will be added to the iconic catalog residing at the Grammy Museum, will be honored at Grammy Museum's inaugural Grammy Hall Of Fame Gala and concert on Tuesday, May 21 at the Novo Theater in Los Angeles.

“Appetite For Destruction” originally debuted at No. 182 on the Billboard 200 in August of 1987; the set reached No. 1 nearly a year later, where it went on to top the chart for a total of five non-consecutive weeks while finishing as the No. 6 biggest album of 1988.

The record launched Guns N’ Roses from the Los Angeles club scene to international fame while delivering three US Top 10 singles: “Welcome To The Jungle”, “Paradise City” and their first and only US No. 1 hit, “Sweet Child o’ Mine.”

Almost four decades after its release, the project remains the biggest-selling debut album of all time.
