Directed by Adrian Maben, the project captures the very first live concert to take place at Pompeii; set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience.
Filmed in October 1971, the performance visuals of the amphitheatre, captured both day and night, amplify the magic of the performance; the project also includes rare behind-the-scenes footage of the band beginning work on “The Dark Side Of The Moon” at Abbey Road Studios in London, UK.
The newly-restored version has been upgraded from the original 35mm footage with newly remixed Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1 audio by Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1, enhancing the film’s depth and clarity whilst preserving the authenticity and spirit of the original 1972 release. Wilson’s aim was to remain faithful to how the band would have sounded in 1971.
Following its praised return to cinemas in 2025, one of Pink Floyd’s most beloved works now becomes available in an ultimate home-viewing edition, presenting the iconic performance in its most immersive form to date.
