U2 have announced U.K. and Europe dates for Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth, a world tour that will see the band return to select stadiums in 2027 and beyond.

The 2027 European leg will kick off in Stockholm on April 26th - with support from Wolf Alice - and will visit Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon, Milan and Paris; plus UK shows also announced for London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; with dates for Spain to be announced soon.

With the first run of shows selling out instantly and additional dates added in Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires due to popular demand; 2027 dates for North America are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

U2 release video for The Greatest Show On Earth

U2 has released a video for “The Greatest Show On Earth” in sync with details for a world tour of the same name.

Co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, it is the third preview from the band’s forthcoming album, “Carnaval De Luz”; directed by Anton Corbijn and was shot in the Californian desert, it tells the story of lovers fighting to keep faith in each other - and faith itself.

The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour will kick off in Mexico City on February 23, 2027 with shows also announced for São Paulo and Buenos Aires, the only three Latin American cities the tour will visit next year.

Additional 2027 dates for Europe and North America are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

U2 announce The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour

U2 have announced the first dates of a world tour in support of their forthcoming album “Carnaval De Luz.”

The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour will kick off in Mexico City on February 23, 2027 with support from Beck, with shows also announced for São Paulo and Buenos Aires, the only three Latin American cities the tour will visit next year.

Additional 2027 dates for Europe and North America are set to be announced in the coming weeks; with plans for the band's all-important return home to Ireland in the works.

"The Greatest Show on Earth"? Now that's a throwdown,” says the band. “It's a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody's life. A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto. Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are."

U2.com ticket presales begin this Monday, October 19th.

Tickets for the tour will first be available via a U2.com Subscriber Presale commencing on Monday October 19th, 2026 at 10am local time and ending on Wednesday October 21st at 10pm local. The Feedback Group will enter on Monday at 10am local and The Hype Group on Tuesday at 10am local.

U2 announce new album Carnaval De Luz

U2 will release their 16th studio album, “Carnaval De Luz”, on November 13 via Interscope Records.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, the band’s first album of new material in nine years was recorded all over the place as the group put together a collection of 12 songs exploring themes of spirituality, friendship, freedom and endurance in the face of dark, encroaching forces.

The roots of “Carnaval De Luz” can be traced directly to U2's two surprise-released and critically acclaimed six-track EPs of early 2026, recorded during the same creative period as the new album. Those releases, “Days of Ash” and “Easter Lily,” followed the liturgical calendar, and so “Carnaval De Luz” sits, stands and dances before them in timeline.

“Carnival”, a celebration of the flesh, 'carne', before the denial that is Lent, a period of reflection, and the rebirth of Easter. The song connecting the album and two EPs is the final track on the new album, "Torn," a duet between Bono and the late, great Dolly Parton, in what has sadly turned out to be her last recorded vocal performance. Co-written by U2, Parton and Johnny McDaid, it's a tender country song detailing broken family ties that holds wider resonances.

"It's a messy, provocative, sacred collection of songs,” says Edge of “Carnaval De Luz”, “and features the first-ever use of flat-wound strings on a U2 recording. Just saying."

"Roll up, roll up, roll up!," adds Bono. “Bring your purple socks, your broken hearts, your rose-tinted naivety... oh be amazed in the hall of mirrors. There will be loud guitars, deep bass, some ecstatic rhythms and, yes, some silver tears will make an appearance!

“Cause in the near distance just outside our carnival of light there are all kinds of creatures... the same imagination that brings us our creativity can also bring us monsters. So we make the drums louder. We build a bigger fire. We make our stories wilder and funnier. We make the melodies sweeter and the songs, they better shine, because if the world is in darkness we better not be."

U2 released “Street Of Dreams” this summer as the first preview of the project; they have issued a new single, “Silencio”, in sync with the album announcement.

The music video for "Silencio" was shot in Mexico City earlier this year and is directed by Cliqua, the Mexican-American directing duo Pasqual Gutierrez and Raul "RJ" Sanchez.

U2 release video for new single Street Of Dreams

U2 has released a video for their new single, “Street Of Dreams.”

The tune is the lead track from the band’s forthcoming coming yet-to-be announced new studio album, U2’s first in 9 years, due for release later this year.

The music video for “Street Of Dreams” was shot in Mexico City in May, where the band also attended the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco. The video shoot near Plaza Santo Domingo drew a huge crowd of fans despite inclement weather, with thunder and rain unexpectedly causing a generator to crash and a local family welcoming the four band members into their apartment to film on the balcony.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, “Street Of Dreams” delivers the unmistakable U2 sound created by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., who this September will celebrate 50 years since the band’s formation after Larry posted a handwritten note which read “Drummer seeks musicians to form band’’ on the school noticeboard at Dublin’s Mount Temple Comprehensive.

U2 share Grammy Awards performance of Atomic City

U2 is sharing video of its performance of “Atomic City” from the 2024 Grammy Awards.

The band was linked into the February 4 Los Angeles broadcast to deliver the 2023 single as part of the “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” residency in Las Vegas.

First released last fall in sync with the new venue’s opening, the song is itself a 1950s nickname for Las Vegas from a time when nuclear fascination swept the nation and the city promoted itself as a center of atomic tourism due to its proximity to the Nevada Test Site.

U2 will release a 2-track vinyl edition of “Atomic City” as part of Record Store Day 2024 on April 20; it will present a brand-new live performance recording alongside a remix by Mike WiLL Made-It, available for the first time physically.

U2 extend Las Vegas residency

U2 has extended its Las Vegas residency into the new year due to "unprecedented demand."

The “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” series – which opened the new venue in late September and continues throughout the fall – now features an additional 11 dates in January and February 2024.

The news follows U2’s new track “Atomic City” taking the top spot on Billboard’s Alternative Digital Song Sales Chart, marking their first No. 1 and fifth Top 10 on this chart; the track has also landed in the top 5 at Triple A radio and is climbing.

U2's first live outing in four years, Sphere will be the only place fans can see this show, now with 36 total dates running through February 18, 2024.

Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton will once again be joined onstage by Bram van den Berg, sitting in on drums for Larry Mullen Jr.

U2 release new single Atomic City

U2 has released a new single, “Atomic City”, in sync with the launch of its Las Vegas residency.

Produced by Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite, the song was recorded at Sound City in Los Angeles; it is homage to the magnetic spirit of 70’s post punk with a nod to Blondie, whose pioneering work with Giorgio Moroder inspired and influenced the band.

“It’s a love song to our audience,” says Bono. “Where you are is where I’ll be.”

U2 has announced plans to release a 30th anniversary reissue of their 1993 album, “Zooropa", and to host a livestream event marking the milestone.

The band will issue a transparent yellow vinyl 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Gatefold version in October 2023 to coincide with the launch of their Las Vegas residency, “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere”, in late September.

Produced by Flood, Brian Eno and The Edge, “Zooropa” was originally conceived as an EP but after a productive six weeks in the studio the group had completed 10 tracks for what would become a full-fledged album. Inspired by the band's experiences on the ZOO TV Tour, “Zooropa” expanded on many of the tour's themes of technology and media oversaturation.

The album went to Number 1 in Ireland, USA, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, while in 1994, “Zooropa” saw the band collect the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

The “Zooropa - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Gatefold” edition features 2LP transparent yellow vinyl pressed from a 2018 remaster, with the original album tracks across 3 sides and two additional mixes on side 4; presented in a Deluxe gatefold package on foil board, the set includes a newly-added photo of the band by Anton Corbijn from 1993 on the inner gatefold.

U2 debut Songs Of Surrender on US charts

U2 has debuted their latest album, “Songs Of Surrender”, on the US charts.

Curated and produced by The Edge, the package delivers 40 songs from the group’s extensive history that were re-recorded during sessions over the past two years and includes “a musical reimagining” resulting in completely new recordings of each track, to include the arrangements and, in some cases, new lyrics.

Billboard reports “Songs Of Surrender” has debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 while topping the Album, Rock, Alternative and Vinyl charts as well.

U2 becomes only the fourth group with a newly-charting top 10 title on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the 1980s, ‘90s, 2000s, ‘10s and now the ‘20s.

U2 members perform NPR Tiny Desk Concert

U2 members Bono and The Edge performed an intimate set on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series to promote the band’s newly-released collection, “Songs Of Surrender.”

The pair were joined by a teen choir from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. for the appearance, which featured stripped-down acoustic versions of four songs from the 2000 album, “All That You Can't Leave Behind”: "Beautiful Day", "In a Little While", "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" and "Walk On."

According to NPR’s Robin Hilton, Bono and The Edge made the trip from Ireland to the States specifically for the Tiny Desk performance, arriving in D.C. after five days of rehearsals at Bono's New York apartment.

“Songs Of Surrender” presents 40 songs from U2’s history that were re-recorded during sessions over the past two years and includes “a musical reimagining” that resulted in completely new recordings of each track.

The new package comes on the heels of Bono’s 2022 memoir, “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” whose subtitle is a nod to the book’s forty chapters, which are each named after a U2 song and accompanied by forty original drawings by the singer which appear throughout the book.

U2 is streaming its new album, “Songs Of Surrender”, in sync with its release on March 17.

Curated and produced by The Edge, the package delivers 40 songs from the group’s extensive history that were re-recorded during sessions over the past two years and includes “a musical reimagining” resulting in completely new recordings of each track, to include the arrangements and, in some cases, new lyrics.

"Music allows you to time travel," explains The Edge, "and we became curious to find out what it would be like to bring our early songs back with us to the present day and give them the benefit, or otherwise, of a 21st century reimagining. What started out as an experiment quickly developed into a personal obsession as so many of our songs yielded to a new interpretation. Intimacy replaced post-punk urgency. New tempos, new keys, and in some cases new chords and new lyrics arrived. A great song, it turns out is kind of indestructible.

"The process of selecting which songs to revisit started with a series of demos,” he continues. “I looked at how a song would hang together if all but the bare essential elements were taken away. The other main aim was to find ways to bring intimacy into the songs, as most of them were originally written with live concert performance in mind. Reviewing these sketch recordings with producer Bob Ezrin, it was very easy to see the ones that worked straight off the bat and those that needed more work. We all got into the sensibility of ‘less is more.’"

The 40 newly recorded tracks are collected together under each of the four band member names across four separate 'albums'.

The new package comes on the heels of Bono’s 2022 memoir, “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” whose subtitle is a nod to the book’s forty chapters, which are each named after a U2 song and accompanied by forty original drawings by the singer which appear throughout the book.

U2 performs ABBA classic on BBC Radio 2

U2’s Bono and The Edge performed a stripped down, orchestral version of the 1975 ABBA classic, “S.O.S.”, during the latest episode of BBC Radio 2’s The Piano Room.

On hand to promote their new collection, “Songs Of Surrender”, the Irish rockers were accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra at the famed BBC Maida Vale studio for the ABBA smash.

“I was saying to one of the cellists today that I didn’t have the courage to own up to this next band when I was 16 in the middle of punk rock,” explained Bono, “but I did get to the Bee Gees and I was ready to own up to ‘Massachusetts’ and ‘Tragedy,’ I mean these are just crazy good. John Lennon owned up to loving the Bee Gees. But there’s a bit of a macho, ‘I don’t want to own up to ABBA.’ But I’ll tell you what, they’re just better songs. You can’t be empirical about everything in art.”

“This is a song Edge and myself wrote after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974,” teased the singer before the performance with a bit of ABBA history, as the Swedish group won the event that year with their entry, “Waterloo.”

BBC host Gary Davies sat down with Bono and The Edge to discuss “Songs Of Surrender”, which arrives March 17 and presents re-imagined versions of tracks from U2’s extensive catalog.

In addition to the ABBA cover, the duo also performed piano-based versions of 2004’s “Vertigo” and 1991’s “One.”

U2 reimagine Beautiful Day on Songs Of Surrender

U2 is sharing a reimagined version of their 2000 classic, “Beautiful Day”, from the forthcoming collection, “Songs Of Surrender.”

The high-energy of the original has been replaced with a new production that puts the emphasis on melody alongside moments of sparse instrumentation, as guitarist and producer The Edge relayed recently as part of the announcement about the project.

“What started out as an experiment quickly developed into a personal obsession as so many of our songs yielded to a new interpretation,” explained the rocker. “Intimacy replaced post punk urgency. U2 is streaming a new version of their 1991 classic, “One”, from the forthcoming collection, “Songs Of Surrender.”

The band presented a special world premiere of the 2023 version during the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year feature in Glendale, AZ on February 12 as part of Super Bowl LVII’s opening ceremonies.

“One” was originally issued as the third single from the group’s seventh album, “Achtung Baby”, and now the reimagined version is featured as one of 40 songs from the group’s extensive history that were re-recorded during sessions over the past two years.

Due March 17 and curated and produced by The Edge, the set presents new recordings of each track, to include the arrangements and, in some cases, new lyrics.

This week, U2 announced details for a Las Vegas residency this fall; billed as “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere”, the series will see the band perform the opening shows at the new Las Vegas venue MSG Sphere, which bills itself as “the world's most experiential venue” which introduces the first 16K screen that wraps up, around, and behind the audience, complete with immersive audio and 4D technologies.

U2 announce Achtung Baby Las Vegas residency

U2 has announced details for a Las Vegas residency this fall.

“U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere” at The Venetian will see the band perform the opening shows at the new Las Vegas venue MSG Sphere, which bills itself as “the world's most experiential venue” which introduces the first 16K screen that wraps up, around, and behind the audience. Sphere Immersive Sound delivers pitch perfect audio to every seat in the house, while 4D technologies will let the audience feel the wind on their face, the heat on their skin and the rumble of thunder.

U2’s seventh album, 1991’s “Achtung Baby”, topped the charts around the world with hits and instant classics like “One”, “Even Better Than The Real Thing” and “Mysterious Ways”, while going platinum or multi-platinum in many regions.

The 2023 residency will feature a lineup change for the Irish rockers, as drummer Larry Mullen Jr. will take time out to undergo and recuperate from surgery, with Bram van den Berg sitting in at the Sphere.

“It's going to take all we've got to approach the Sphere without our bandmate in the drum seat, but Larry has joined us in welcoming Bram van den Berg who is a force in his own right,” says Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton. “The Sphere show has been in the works for a long time. We don't want to let people down, least of all our audience… the truth is we miss them as much as they appear to miss us… our audience was always the fifth member of the band.

“Bottom line, U2 hasn't played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they're building for us out there in the desert… We're the right band, Achtung Baby the right album, and the Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level… That's what U2's been trying to do all along with our satellite stages and video installations, most memorably on the ZOO TV Tour, which ended in Tokyo 30 years ago this Fall.

The Sphere is more than just a venue, it's a gallery and U2's music is going to be all over the walls."
