U2 has released a video for their new single, “Street Of Dreams.”
The tune is the lead track from the band’s forthcoming coming yet-to-be announced new studio album, U2’s first in 9 years, due for release later this year.
The music video for “Street Of Dreams” was shot in Mexico City in May, where the band also attended the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco. The video shoot near Plaza Santo Domingo drew a huge crowd of fans despite inclement weather, with thunder and rain unexpectedly causing a generator to crash and a local family welcoming the four band members into their apartment to film on the balcony.
Produced by Jacknife Lee, “Street Of Dreams” delivers the unmistakable U2 sound created by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., who this September will celebrate 50 years since the band’s formation after Larry posted a handwritten note which read “Drummer seeks musicians to form band’’ on the school noticeboard at Dublin’s Mount Temple Comprehensive.

The band was linked into the February 4 Los Angeles broadcast to deliver the 2023 single as part of the “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” residency in Las Vegas.
First released last fall in sync with the new venue’s opening, the song is itself a 1950s nickname for Las Vegas from a time when nuclear fascination swept the nation and the city promoted itself as a center of atomic tourism due to its proximity to the Nevada Test Site.
U2 will release a 2-track vinyl edition of “Atomic City” as part of Record Store Day 2024 on April 20; it will present a brand-new live performance recording alongside a remix by Mike WiLL Made-It, available for the first time physically.

The “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” series – which opened the new venue in late September and continues throughout the fall – now features an additional 11 dates in January and February 2024.
The news follows U2’s new track “Atomic City” taking the top spot on Billboard’s Alternative Digital Song Sales Chart, marking their first No. 1 and fifth Top 10 on this chart; the track has also landed in the top 5 at Triple A radio and is climbing.
U2's first live outing in four years, Sphere will be the only place fans can see this show, now with 36 total dates running through February 18, 2024.
Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton will once again be joined onstage by Bram van den Berg, sitting in on drums for Larry Mullen Jr.

U2 has released a new single, “Atomic City”, in sync with the launch of its Las Vegas residency.
Produced by Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite, the song was recorded at Sound City in Los Angeles; it is homage to the magnetic spirit of 70’s post punk with a nod to Blondie, whose pioneering work with Giorgio Moroder inspired and influenced the band.
“It’s a love song to our audience,” says Bono. “Where you are is where I’ll be.”

The band will issue a transparent yellow vinyl 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Gatefold version in October 2023 to coincide with the launch of their Las Vegas residency, “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere”, in late September.
Produced by Flood, Brian Eno and The Edge, “Zooropa” was originally conceived as an EP but after a productive six weeks in the studio the group had completed 10 tracks for what would become a full-fledged album. Inspired by the band's experiences on the ZOO TV Tour, “Zooropa” expanded on many of the tour's themes of technology and media oversaturation.
The album went to Number 1 in Ireland, USA, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, while in 1994, “Zooropa” saw the band collect the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Billboard reports “Songs Of Surrender” has debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 while topping the Album, Rock, Alternative and Vinyl charts as well.
U2 becomes only the fourth group with a newly-charting top 10 title on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the 1980s, ‘90s, 2000s, ‘10s and now the ‘20s.
U2 members Bono and The Edge performed an intimate set on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series to promote the band’s newly-released collection, “Songs Of Surrender.”
The pair were joined by a teen choir from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. for the appearance, which featured stripped-down acoustic versions of four songs from the 2000 album, “All That You Can't Leave Behind”: "Beautiful Day", "In a Little While", "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" and "Walk On."
According to NPR’s Robin Hilton, Bono and The Edge made the trip from Ireland to the States specifically for the Tiny Desk performance, arriving in D.C. after five days of rehearsals at Bono's New York apartment.

"Music allows you to time travel," explains The Edge, "and we became curious to find out what it would be like to bring our early songs back with us to the present day and give them the benefit, or otherwise, of a 21st century reimagining. What started out as an experiment quickly developed into a personal obsession as so many of our songs yielded to a new interpretation. Intimacy replaced post-punk urgency. New tempos, new keys, and in some cases new chords and new lyrics arrived. A great song, it turns out is kind of indestructible.
"The process of selecting which songs to revisit started with a series of demos,” he continues. “I looked at how a song would hang together if all but the bare essential elements were taken away. The other main aim was to find ways to bring intimacy into the songs, as most of them were originally written with live concert performance in mind. Reviewing these sketch recordings with producer Bob Ezrin, it was very easy to see the ones that worked straight off the bat and those that needed more work. We all got into the sensibility of ‘less is more.’"
The 40 newly recorded tracks are collected together under each of the four band member names across four separate 'albums'.

On hand to promote their new collection, “Songs Of Surrender”, the Irish rockers were accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra at the famed BBC Maida Vale studio for the ABBA smash.
“I was saying to one of the cellists today that I didn’t have the courage to own up to this next band when I was 16 in the middle of punk rock,” explained Bono, “but I did get to the Bee Gees and I was ready to own up to ‘Massachusetts’ and ‘Tragedy,’ I mean these are just crazy good. John Lennon owned up to loving the Bee Gees. But there’s a bit of a macho, ‘I don’t want to own up to ABBA.’ But I’ll tell you what, they’re just better songs. You can’t be empirical about everything in art.”
“This is a song Edge and myself wrote after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974,” teased the singer before the performance with a bit of ABBA history, as the Swedish group won the event that year with their entry, “Waterloo.”
BBC host Gary Davies sat down with Bono and The Edge to discuss “Songs Of Surrender”, which arrives March 17 and presents re-imagined versions of tracks from U2’s extensive catalog.
In addition to the ABBA cover, the duo also performed piano-based versions of 2004’s “Vertigo” and 1991’s “One.”

"The process of selecting which songs to revisit started with a series of demos. I looked at how a song would hang together if all but the bare essential elements were taken away. The other main aim was to find ways to bring intimacy into the songs, as most of them were originally written with live concert performance in mind.
“Reviewing these sketch recordings with producer Bob Ezrin, it was very easy to see the ones that worked straight off the bat and those that needed more work. We all got into the sensibility of less is more.”

"Most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men,” says The Edge. “Those songs mean something quite different to us now. Some have grown with us. U2 frontman Bono has expanded his upcoming residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre with the addition of three new dates.
The “Stories of Surrender” series sees Bono recount tales from his 2022 memoir, “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” which sees the rocker writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with – from his early days growing up in Dublin to today.
Surrender’s subtitle is a nod to the book’s forty chapters, which are each named after a U2 song and accompanied by forty original drawings by the singer, which appear throughout the book.
Following an initial tour last fall to launch the book, Bono recently announced an 8-night spring residency at The Beacon, with shows starting April 16; the series now adds appearances on May 4, 7 and 8, with tickets going on sale starting Monday, January 9 at 10am local time.
