Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson took the band’s 1982 track, “Run To The Hills,” literally last weekend when he competed in the annual Grasmere Sport’s Guides Race in England.
The Westmorland Gazette reports Dickinson and Maiden guitarist Dave Murray were in the northern UK town for the wedding of band manager Andy Taylor’s daughter Louise.
While there, Dickinson suited up for the Sports Race on Sunday, which he completed in 26 minutes and 21 seconds, landing him 161st out of 181 runners.
The Annual Grasmere Lakeland Sports has been a regular annual event since 1868, unbroken except for the two periods of the First and Second World Wars.
Now one of the most popular traditional events in the English Lake District, participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling, Fell Running and Hound Trails.
