Record sales for new Iron Maiden beer

Last month, Iron Maiden announced their own Trooper beer brand and now a new report says the product is experiencing record sales in advance of its official launch on May 9.

The Sun reports Cheshire family brewer Robinsons is having to work a six-day week to keep up with demand.

Over a quarter of a million pints have been pre-sold in the UK alone, and more than 100 countries have applied to stock Trooper beer.

The company is brewing three batches a day for the first time in their 175-year history.

“We haven’t spent a single penny on advertising,” said David Bremner of Robinsons. “This is history in the making for brewing.”

Named after one of Maiden’s most popular songs, “The Trooper,” from 1983’s “Piece Of Mind,” the beer was created with the help of singer Bruce Dickinson.

"I'm a lifelong fan of traditional English ale,” says Dickinson. “I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavor and texture that is Trooper. I love it."
