Iron Maiden have topped music industry magazine Billboard’s Hot Tours list for the third time this year.
Billboard reports the band took top spot with $15.2 million in ticket sales from the final 9 shows of the group’s Maiden England world tour, which kicked off in June of 2012.
After playing dates in North America last summer and Europe this year, the tour returned for a brief trek through U.S. cities in September and then wrapped in Latin America with large stadium crowds during the final days. The last show on October 2 in Santiago, Chile’s National Stadium drew more than 57,000 fans.
From the beginning of the Maiden England jaunt last summer, ticket sales reported to Billboard total $57.4 million from 54 concerts. Overall tour attendance topped 903,000 during the two-year span.
Maiden previously topped the Hot Tours list in July (here) and in August (here).
The 2012/2013 stage show closely mirrored, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name – reissued on DVD this year - shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour.”
