Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell postponed a solo show in Wilmington, Delaware Wednesday night due to a severe shoulder strain sustained earlier in the day.
“Chris had hoped to be able to make the show tonight, but doctors have advised that he rests,” read the official statement. “The date will be rescheduled as soon as possible, and all tickets will be honored. Chris would like to apologize to everyone, especially those who have traveled to Wilmington for the show.”
The date was part of Cornell’s fall North American tour, comprised of intimate, acoustic shows under his “Songbook” format, with Chris performing tracks from throughout his career – including the debut of acoustic arrangements of songs from 2012's “King Animal”, Soundgarden's first new studio album in over 16 years.
One dollar of every ticket sold on the tour will be donated to The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, which gives aid to the most vulnerable children; a portion of the proceeds will also benefit ChildHaven’s Creative Music Therapy Program Expansion (learn more here).
Up next, Cornell is scheduled to play two shows in Atlantic City on Friday and Saturday; the fall tour wrap ups in St. Petersburg, Florida on December 6.
