Foo Fighters return from hiatus

Foo Fighters have released a new video to announce their return from a self-imposed hiatus with a December 13 concert in Mexico City.

The band will play the 55,000 capacity Foro Sol Stadium with openers The National – details are available at foofightersmexico.com.

Last October, Dave Grohl announced that the Foos were going on hiatus following an extensive world tour in support of 2011’s “Wasting Light” album.

"I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again," he wrote on Facebook, leading many to think the band was finished while Grohl worked on his Sound City film project.

But guitarist Chris Shiflett told Rolling Stone in August that the band had begun work on a new album.

"We actually just started making a new Foo Fighters record within the last few weeks," said Shiflett at the time. “We've started rehearsing. I knew we weren't done, but I just thought it'd be a little longer. But whatever – it's good. It's good getting back to work."

"It was a very short hiatus," the guitarist added. "We're going to start recording the new Foo Fighters record at the beginning of next year."
