Anthrax release new single Everybody's Got A Plan

Anthrax have released a video for “Everybody's Got A Plan”, the latest single from their forthcoming album, “Cursum Percifico.”

The new video was mostly filmed on July 7 in Lisbon, Portugal when the band - Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar) - toured with Iron Maiden in Europe. It features live performance footage and behind the scenes backstage fun with cutaways to classic B&W boxing footage that underline the song's central lyrics: "Everybody's got a plan/That's until they get punched in the face..."

"'Everybody's Got a Plan' has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio," says Benante. "The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song. 'Everybody's got a plan/That's until they get punched in the face' is such a great line, and so true!"

"Most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Lu on July 7, 2026," Ian notes. "We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn't end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!"

Bello adds, "This video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour."

Anthrax are sharing a behind the scenes look at the making of the official music video for "The Edge Of Perfection", the latest single from the band's forthcoming studio album, "Cursum Perficio."

The tune follows “It’s For The Kids” as the second preview of the project, which will be released September 18 via Nuclear Blast Records and Megaforce Records (North America).

I'm living on that edge for the rest of my life. This is mine, but there are a lot of ways to ruin it. I've ruined it in past iterations of my life, but it got me to where I am. Love is perfection, and I like being on the edge of it. I don't want everything to be about all of the same sh*t. This record has a whole bunch of love, a whole bunch of fun, and a little hate."

Anthrax release new single It’s For The Kids

Anthrax have released “It’s For The Kids”, the lead single from their newly-announced forthcoming album, “Cursum Percifico.”

Due September 18 via Nuclear Blast Records and Megaforce Records (North America), the project marks the band’s long-awaited 12th full-length studio album and first in ten years.

Produced by Jay Ruston and Anthrax, the group began recording the project in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Los Angeles.

"It was quite a journey from the inception of this album to its completion," says Scott Ian. "We were supposed to make this in 2020, but the universe had other plans for everyone. After the Pandemic, we got to be a band again. When we started working on the record, we were just happy to be in a room together. It was so exciting that it was like being reborn in a way. All of that energy and emotion went into the music. The fear of being forced out of our lives and the joy of coming back together are present. The title 'Cursum Perficio' feels like Anthrax. It resembled what we went through to get to the point of finishing the record."

The phrase Cursum Perficio is Latin for "My journey has come to an end," "My journey is over," or "I complete my journey." It proves apropos for such a complete body of work.

"There was an awful lot of growth between ‘Worship Music’ in 2011 and Cursum Pacifico," Charlie Benante elaborated. "This album is a culmination of everything we've learned. I was watching a Marilyn Monroe documentary, and I saw 'Cursum Perficio' written on a tile in her last home. When I found out what the phrase meant, it immediately clicked with me. We aren't saying this is our last record, but our journey has come to an end. I believe we've completed the task."

As for the lead single, Ian says "A friend of mine said, 'It's For The Kids' is a straight-up love letter to your fans. That's exactly what I wanted it to be. The album needed a four-minute thrash song that harkened back to our first era. Whether it's the aggression or the big chorus, it represents all the best parts of Anthrax in a very angry four-minute package. For the video, we wanted to throw back to our 'Madhouse' video--thematically it just made sense and this idea opened the door for us to share the experience with our fans. For all of us!"

Anthrax rock 1971 classic at final Black Sabbath performance

Anthrax rocked the 1971 classic, “Into The Void”, as part of the Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne farewell event, “Back To The Beginning”, in Birmingham on July 5.

The track from the UK outfit’s third album, “Master Of Reality”, was featured alongside the New York outfit’s own “Indians” during a two-song appearance at the concert at Villa Park in Sabbath’s hometown.

Anthrax followed Mastodon and Rival Sons as the third artist to take the stage at the stadium, which is home to the city’s Premier League football club Aston Villa.

The event featured a lineup that included performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, and some surprise guests.

Anthrax cancel summer 2023 European tour

Anthrax has canceled its summer 2023 European tour.

“To all our friends in Europe… Due to a series of logistical and scheduling issues, we won’t be able to make it to Europe this summer for the festivals we were set to perform at,” says the band. “We’re really disappointed about this, and want you to know that a solid - and overdue - European tour is a priority for us.

“Lots of exciting things are in the pipeline, so stay tuned.”

The summer schedule included appearances at Germany's Wacken Open Air, Slovenia's MetalDays, Czech Republic's Brutal Assault and Belgium's Alcatraz festivals, among others.

Fans will recall the group previously cancelled a series of 2022 shows in continental Europe “due to ongoing logistical issues and 2022 costs that are out of our control.”

Anthrax last performed shows on their 40th anniversary tour in January and February as part of the band’s co-headlining tour of North America with Black Label Society.

The New York rockers are next scheduled to appear late next month at the Milwaukee Metal Fest, where they will headline the second night of the three-day event.

Last year, the group released “Anthrax XL”, a package presenting the band’s July 2021 livestream event that saw them perform an extensive two-plus hour set at the Los Angeles soundstage/studio The Den to mark their milestone anniversary.

Anthrax expand 40th anniversary North American tour

Anthrax have expanded their 40th anniversary co-headlining tour of North America with Black Label Society with the announcement of a new series of dates in early 2023.

The five-week trek – with guests Exodus – will open January 17 in Boise, ID and see the bands visit different markets than last summer’s run.

“We are so pumped to be hitting the road again with Black Label Society,” says Anthrax. “We had such a great time when we toured with them earlier this year, that we had talked about doing it again when we were still on the road together. And, having the guys from Exodus on the bill as Special Guest, will definitely make this a tour not to miss.”

Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 4 at 10 AM local time via the usual outlets.

A few months ago, Anthrax released “Anthrax XL”, a package presenting the band’s July 2021 livestream event that saw them perform an extensive two-plus hour set at the Los Angeles soundstage/studio The Den to mark their anniversary.

Anthrax cancel European tour

Anthrax has canceled its previously-announced shows in continental Europe this fall.

“Sadly due to ongoing logistical issues and 2022 costs that are out of our control, we have no other option but to cancel the European leg of our upcoming 2022 tour,” shared the band on social media. “We will however be coming to the UK as scheduled.

“Tickets can be refunded at point of purchase.”

The New York thrash outfit has been playing dates on a 40th anniversary tour; the UK run will begin as scheduled on September 27 in Birmingham, UK, with shows wrapping up in London on October 8.

Dates affected by the European tour cancellation were set to begin October 10 in Brussels, Belgium and wrap up in Zurich, Switzerland on November 5.

The group recently released “Anthrax XL”, a package presenting the band’s July 2021 livestream event that saw them perform an extensive two-plus hour set at the Los Angeles soundstage/studio The Den to mark their anniversary.

Anthrax cancel second show due to medical concern

Anthrax have canceled a second show on their current 40th anniversary North American tour this week “due to a medical concern.”

After missing an August 8 appearance in Dallas, TX on August 8, the group updated fans on their situation.

“Charlie, Scott, Frank, Joey and Jon are really sorry to let their fans in Austin know that due to a medical concern, Anthrax has to cancel its show tonight at Stubbs Waller Creek Amphitheatre,” announced the band on social media on August 9. “Black Label Society and Hatebreed are still performing tonight, so the band hopes you'll come out and rock with them. Refunds are available until the venue box office closes at 9 p.m. tonight, or at point of purchase.

"Everyone in the band looks forward to seeing their Austin fans soon!”

Anthrax have not revealed any specific details about the “medical concern” to date; following tonight’s Austin show, the tour will next hit Atlanta, GA on August 11. See also:

Anthrax canceled an August 8 performance at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, TX just hours before the event “due to a medical concern.”

“We are sorry to let you know that due to a medical concern, Anthrax have to cancel tonight’s show in Dallas,” announced the group on social media. “Black Label Society and Hatebreed are still performing tonight, come and rock out with them! Refunds are available until box office closes at (9 p.m.)”

“We’ve waited so long to be able to celebrate our 40th anniversary,” says Scott Ian, “and are so disappointed that we won’t be able to do so tonight - frankly, it blows. Thank you for your support and understanding, and stay safe.”

No further details were provided at press time regarding the situation; the bands are next scheduled to perform in Austin, TX on August 9.

Anthrax kicked off their 40th anniversary North American tour July 26 in Phoenix, AZ; the series is scheduled to wrap up in Philadelphia, PA on August 28.

Anthrax have announced dates for a 40th anniversary co-headlining tour of North America with Black Label Society.

The five-week series will open July 26 in Phoenix, AZ, with most shows featuring guests Hatebreed, and run until the end of August.

Anthrax and Black Label Society have shared festival stages and one-off shows numerous times, but this marks the very first time these two bands will tour together.

“Zakk has been a friend and an inspiration to me as a guitar player, songwriter, and beard grower since we met in 1988,” says Anthrax’s Scott Ian. “We’ve had the privilege to share festival stages with Zakk and BLS around the world, and it’s always been a head-banging mutual admiration society between the two bands. Now we get to share the stage every night on what is easily going to be the heaviest tour of 2022 - the ultimate pounding one-two combination of bands. Oh, and did I mention we’ve got Hatebreed with us as our special guests? Holy crap, it’s going to be the night of 1000 crushing riffs. I can’t wait to see you all on the road.”

Anthrax announce 40th anniversary European tour

Anthrax have announced dates for a fall 2022 40th anniversary tour of the UK and Europe.

Set to begin with the launch of eight UK shows in late September, the six-week series will see the thrash outfit play 28 dates in 16 countries by the time it wraps up in Zurich, Switzerland on November 5.

Crossover thrash band Municipal Waste will support on all dates.

"It sure has been a long time since we rock ’n’ rolled in the UK and Europe,” says drummer Charlie Benante, "but we’re coming back soon to bring the noise to all of you guys. Being that we can’t get over there until 2022, we’re going to make sure that every show will be an eventful one. We won’t just be playing four decades of songs to celebrate our ongoing 40th anniversary - hey, we’ll be giving YOU some history! - but we just might have some brand new ones for you as well. Can’t wait to see all your happy, smiling faces!!!"

Anthrax revisit For All Kings on 40th anniversary video series

Anthrax revisit their 2016 album, “For All Kings”, on the latest installment of the band’s 40th anniversary video series.

After the band returned to form and chart success with 2011’s “Worship Music”, drummer Charlie Benante felt they were moving forward as a very positive time in their career.

“The momentum from ‘Worship Music’ carried over to that record,” recalls Benante, “and I remember being so happy that it was so well received. There’s something about good momentum; just the same way you can’t stop bad momentum, you can’t stop good momentum .. so that record gave me such hope that this next record could be just as good, if not better.”

Following the 2013 departure of guitarist Rob Caggiano, Anthrax went through yet another lineup change when they brought in former Shadows Fall member Jon Donais.

The group teamed up with producer Jay Ruston to record their eleventh studio album; “For All Kings” would score Anthrax their first US Top 10 album in more than two decades while reaching the Top 20 in another ten countries.

Anthrax recently celebrated their 40th anniversary with a very special livestream performance that saw the band deliver a deep cuts set featuring tracks from their entire career-spanning catalog.

Anthrax revisit The Big Four on 40th anniversary series

Anthrax rebuild career momentum in 2010 as members of The Big Four in the latest installment of the band’s 40th anniversary video series.

Following a number of music industry battles in the late 1990s and early 2000s and a number of personnel changes, the New York band were invited to join a series of European shows alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth.

“Getting to do those Big Four shows would be a real boost for us,” says Scott Ian. “To share that stage with our friends and those bands, and be in front of those audiences; the idea of The Big Four and doing shows with the other three bands … the four bands that all came up together ..it really got us thinking that we’d be crazy not to ask Joey (Belladonna) to be a part of this because that was the band, from that era, that put Anthrax on the map.”

With Belladonna back in the lineup, the seven-date Sonisphere Festival series featured The Big Four of American thrash metal, and produced the home video release of “The Big Four: Live from Sofia, Bulgaria.”

The series resumed in the spring of 2011 with its first US date in California before hosting more events in Europe and the UK that summer, and wrapping up in the fall at New York’s Yankee Stadium before more than 41,000 fans; Anthrax released their tenth studio album, “Worship Music”, via Megaforce Records just days before the finale.

The record delivered Anthrax their highest US chart position in almost two decades when it reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200.

Anthrax share The Devil You Know from 40th anniversary livestream

Amthrax are sharing video of a performance of their 2011 track, “The Devil You Know”, from the band’s 40th anniversary livestream event.

“Well, here we are! - July 18th 2021 - 40 years of Anthrax,” says the group alongside a new video message. “It's absolutely mind-blowing to think about and it would not have been possible without all YOUR support. We thank each and every one of you for traveling with us on this journey. There's plenty more on the way!!

“You can still watch our EPIC 2 1/2 hour show and one full hour of extra bonus footage including three more songs On Demand!!," they add, via Anthraxlive.com. "Event passes and special 40th-anniversary ticket bundles - one including a live video chat with the members of Anthrax - are on sale now.”

Formed by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, New York on July 18, 1981, Anthrax was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast and quickly became regarded as a leader in the genre alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth.

The group’s most recent studio release is 2016’s “For All Kings”, which reached the US Top 10.

Anthrax rebuild momentum with 2003’s We’ve Come For You All

Anthrax begin to rebuild career momentum with 2003’s “We’ve Come For You All” in the latest installment of the band’s 40th anniversary video series.

A new deal with Nuclear Blast Records and the 2001 addition of guitarist Rob Caggiano saw the group record their ninth studio album, which was heralded as a return to form for the New York thrash outfit.

“Coming from the fun that was ‘Stomp 442’ and all that stuff we all know about now,” says Frank Bello, “we had to take that next step and pivot out of it, and I think with ‘We’ve Come For You All’ we did that. We knew we had the songs.”

“Rob coming into the band gave us a nice kick,” adds Charlie Benante, “and momentum was starting.”

Caggiano and Eddie Wohl co-produced “We’ve Come For You All”, which would also turn out to be singer John Bush’s last album with the band.

Anthrax regroup for the 2000s as 40th anniversary series continues

Anthrax find themselves in regroup mode as they enter the 2000s in the latest installment of the band’s 40th anniversary video series.

The group were caught in the crossfire of the closure of two separate record labels following the release of 1998’s “Volume 8: The Threat Is Real” and the 1999 compilation, “Return Of The Attack Of The Killer A’s.”

In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US, a series of deadly anthrax spores were sent via mail to select US politicians; the band shared information about the bacterial virus via their social media sites before jokingly suggesting they might change their name.

Anthrax dispelled the speculation when they arrived on stage for a post-9/11 benefit concert wearing matching outfits while spelling out the phrase, “We're not changing our name."
