Iron Maiden launch 2026 Run For Your Lives World Tour in Athens

Iron Maiden launched the 2026 Run For Your Lives World Tour in Athens, Greece on May 23, and the band are sharing footage from opening night.

The series sees Iron Maiden performing material from their 1980 self-titled debut through to 1992’s “Fear Of The Dark.”

“The Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026 got off to an explosive start in Athens last night!” says the band. “Sofia… See you soon.”

Following last year’s opening leg of the trek – which celebrates the group’s 50th Anniversary – 2026 will see the band perform across Europe this summer before a fall run across North and South America before playing dates in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Iron Maiden are among the artists set to enter the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this fall during a taped event on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles before it airs in December on ABC and Disney+.

The iconic UK band are unable to attend the Rock Hall ceremony due to a busy travel schedule with shows booked on the other side of the world in mid-November.

“We’d like to thank the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for including us (and former members who were all part of our story) in the 2026 roll call of inductees,” says band manager Rod Smallwood. “Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!

“It also seems appropriate for the band to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year as we continue our 50th anniversary celebrations with our Run For Your Lives World Tour visiting the Americas and beyond. Iron Maiden preview Run For Your Lives World Tour

Iron Maiden is sharing a behind the scenes preview of the band’s Run For Your Lives World Tour.

Fans can see footage of the artists working on creating iconic images for the series in celebration of the group’s 50th Anniversary.

The “tour is about to embark on its second year!,” says the group. “To the artists behind the visuals of the show... Thank you! This wouldn't have been possible without you to show us the story. Here's to all of you, all over the world, who have helped to make the Run For Your Lives Tour a visual epic!”

After launching the multi-year trek with shows across Europe last summer, the 2026 schedule will kick off in the same region on May 23 in Athens, Greece.

“We are all loving this Run For Your Lives Tour,” says Steve Harris. “The fans have been amazing, the set list is perfect for the 50th Anniversary, the show is arguably our best ever and ticket demand was incredible with pretty much everywhere sold out and over a million fans attending. So we all thought we should play some more shows in Europe before heading out to other parts of the world later in the year. Of course Simon Dawson will be joining us once again on the drummer’s stool, and both he and the whole band would like to thank our fans for the terrific reception you have given him on the first leg.”

Iron Maiden will follow the summer series with a North American run in the fall alongside South America gigs, and dates in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer coming to theaters

“Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer”, a documentary about vocalist Paul Di’Anno, is coming to UK cinemas from May 1st, 2026 at Birmingham's Mockingbird Cinema, followed by screenings through June 2nd in the UK's Light Cinema chain.

And while still in U.S. film festivals such as Sound Unseen in Minneapolis (May 13th) and the San Francisco Documentary Festival on (June 3rd), the film will also see its North American Theatrical Premier for public audiences at the Lumiere Music Hall Theater, 9036 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90211 on June 9th, 2026 at 7:00pm, which is also the official North American release date for both the digital VOD and Home Entertainment DVD/Blu Ray formats. A special Q&A session with Director Wes Orshoski will immediately follow the Beverly Hills screening.

In this strikingly raw and intimate film, director Wes Orshoski captures the late singer riding an emotional rollercoaster toward the end of his life. Featuring appearances by James Hetfield (Metallica),Gene Simmons (Kiss) , Iron Maiden's Steve Harris and members of Exodus, Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill and Sepultura, the film chronicles how two Iron Maiden fans encounter Di'Anno at the lowest point of his life and then set out to restore his health and relaunch his career.

Metal Hammer describes Orshoski's latest film as a "harrowing insight into Di'Anno's frustration and frailty at a desperately low ebb with an abrasively real, warts-and-all approach to its subject that serves Paul's legacy far more compellingly than some sanitized panegyric", while Metal Talk called it "a raw, dark and intimate documentary detailing the tragic final years of Iron Maiden's original singer, Paul Di'Anno."

Wheelchair-bound since the mid-2010s, Di'Anno's health nosedived during the Covid-19 pandemic, when those two fans launched a crowdfunding campaign which ultimately led to him relocating to Croatia, where - through the help of those fans and doctors - he made a dramatic turnaround while running out of money, reuniting with his former Maiden bandmates and falling in love. Eventually he makes a heroic and drama-filled return to the stage. All of this is captured in “Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer”, which Orshoski began shooting in 2017.

"For years there wasn't much to capture," says Orshoski, whose credits include “Lemmy”, a study of Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister and “The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead.” "Paul was waiting for surgeries that doctors in the U.K. would not green-light. He was in an incredibly dark place. But once he got to Croatia, fans and doctors gave him the hope he was desperately searching for. It was beautiful to witness. I wanted to make a film that was unlike any rock doc you've ever seen. And in the end, I think we got there."

One of icons of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, London-born Di'Anno helped launch Iron Maiden around the world, appearing on two of the most foundational metal albums ever released: Iron Maiden's 1980 self-titled debut and the celebrated follow-up, "Killers", released in 1981. In one of the most epic sagas in metal history, Di'Anno left Maiden in 1981 and was replaced by Bruce Dickinson, leaving metal fans around the world to debate which line-up and which singer was/is better; it's a debate that continues to this day, almost 50 years later.

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain announces autobiography

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain will publish his autobiography, “Hello Boys And Girls!”, on November 10 via Harper Nonfiction.

McBrain joined the iconic metal band in 1982, after stints with artists like Streetwalkers, Pat Travers and Trust, and honing his craft from decades of session work among the highly competitive mean streets and studios of London's Soho.

Through his powerful, precise drumming and charismatic stage presence, the long-serving drummer was pivotal in shaping Iron Maiden's dynamic sound.

The rocker – who retired from touring in 2024 – remains in place as a member and for future studio recordings.

“Hello Boys And Girls!” sees McBrain take readers behind the scenes of one of Britain's biggest ever bands, as he experienced the highs and lows of his illustrious career on the road, in the studio and being 'Mr Iron Maiden' to the worldwide legion of fans.

This is the story of what it feels like to remain not just relevant but more loved than ever after decades at the top, and to live a life transformed by music, brotherhood, and belief.

Iron Maiden to enter 2026 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Iron Maiden are among the artists set to enter the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this fall.

The Hall announced the UK rockers were named among the inductees for the 2026 event, which will be taped on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with the event set to debut in December on ABC and Disney+.

The Class of 2026 also includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and the Wu-Tang Clan; as well as Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons with the Early Influence Award; Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin with the Musical Excellence Award; and Ed Sullivan with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Iron Maiden share latest EddFest update

Iron Maiden is sharing the latest update to the EddFest concert event at Knebworth Park on July 11.

The band have announced that former frontman Blaze Bayley will be playing a headline set on Maidenville Stage at the event, while Iron Maiden precursor Gypsy's Kiss have also been added to the lineup.

"I'm so excited to be invited to headline Friday night at EddFest, celebrating 50 years of Iron Maiden,” says Bayley, “I am so proud of my two albums with the band and I'm really looking forward to playing some of the songs that we recorded together. Can't wait to see you all at the hallowed grounds of Knebworth!"

Steve Harris has also invited Gypsy's Kiss, the band he formed in 1974 with singer and guitarist, David Smith, to perform on the Maidenville stage on Friday. As the very first band Steve ever played with, they were an instrumental part of Steve's journey to form Iron Maiden a year later.

"Having the opportunity to put together our very own festival at Knebworth, and celebrate 50 years of Iron Maiden, has given me a chance to bring together friends past and present and create a really special weekend for the fans,” says Harris. “I'm very pleased that Blaze is able to join us and perform some of the songs we wrote and recorded in the 90s. He has been a big part of Iron Maiden's career, and I know the fans will be really excited to see him on stage at EddFest. It's also great to have Gypsy's Kiss playing with us at Knebworth too. They were a big part of my musical heritage and it's really exciting to have them play at the Maidenville stage."

Camping ticket holders for the only UK headline show in 2026 will be able to access the EddFest site on the Friday night, the day before regular ticket holders. This includes access to the Infinite Dreams Experience, Eddie's Ultimate Dive Bar, the Unfair Funfair and of course, the Friday night entertainment.

Iron Maiden and The Black Crowes among 2026 Rock Hall nominees

Iron Maiden, The Black Crowes and Oasis are among the nominees for induction into the 2026 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The Cleveland-based institution has revealed the full list of artists under consideration, which also includes Billy Idol, INXS, Phil Collins and Melissa Etheridge, among others.

“This diverse list of talented Nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall.”

Artists or bands become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Among this year’s 17 Nominees, 10 are appearing on the ballot for the first time: Jeff Buckley, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, P!NK, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan.

Nominee ballots will be distributed to an international voting panel composed of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The selection criteria include an artist’s impact on music culture, influence on other musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of their career and body of work.

The 2026 Performer Inductees will be revealed in April, along with those Inductees entering the Hall under three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award.

Iron Maiden announce Eddfest

Last September when Iron Maiden announced their only UK show of 2026, on July 11th at Knebworth Park, they said they would be "turning it into as much of a 'Maiden World' as we can for all our fans to enjoy!" and true to form they are now able to announce the full details, revealing exactly what that means.

Get ready for EDDFEST- a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience what constitutes Iron Maiden's idea of a fun-filled 48 hours of entertainment, themed areas and bars, experiences, live music and more. Inside EDDFEST fans will be able to explore the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience, a walk-through display of stage props and relics, inspired by Sunday Times Bestseller book Infinite Dreams. This is an unprecedented and completely unique opportunity to view Maiden relics up close and personal.

Fans will also encounter Maidenville, where you will find the greatest Eddie's Dive Bar yet, a second stage for music and entertainment, the Unfair Funfair featuring rides and Eddie-themed Funfair Games, plus Eddie's Emporium and much more to explore throughout the site.

Friday night campers will be able to gain early access to the site and experiences, including first access to the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience. There will also be a whole evening of entertainment planned on the Maidenville stage featuring a mix of special acts with a connection to Maiden. This is all topped off with the previously announced main stage on the Saturday, featuring an exceptional supporting line-up, ahead of Iron Maiden's show-stopping RUN FOR YOUR LIVES performance.

Manager Rod Smallwood explains; "After the monumental shows in the UK last year, we knew that if we were going to play the UK in 2026 it had to be very different. So we chose Knebworth Park as it gives us the space required - which is just not available in stadiums - to put together something groundbreaking for our fans by creating a Maiden World for them. We are excited to now reveal the details of this one-off event to celebrate the band's 50 year career, which we are now calling EDDFEST, because, as everyone knows, Eddie is the true star of the show!

We also know Maiden fans are basically a huge gang and we want to give them a weekend to remember at Knebworth. For the last couple of tours we have been arranging the Eddie Dive Bars for our fans, both pre- and post-show. Some of these took over the entire centres of towns with thousands of fans gathered there enjoying the fun, the music and each other's company. So EDDFEST is going to expand on that concept in a huge variety of ways, to create a truly unmissable Maiden World over the whole weekend!

There will be a whole host of great music, great beer (of course!), lots of exciting and varied fun things to do, great souvenirs and merch, some unique and fantastic photo opportunities to create unbeatable Maiden memories, and of course, the true camaraderie that comes from being a Maiden fan."

Kilimanjaro promoters Stuart Galbraith and Alan Day, the creators of Sonisphere, add, "Maiden have a different view on how they want to do things for their fans than most bands. We previously worked with them at Sonisphere and when they explained what they wanted to do for this show we were hooked. It will be a unique event. The EDDFEST Festival starts from 2pm on Friday with camping included for both nights. Various parts of the Maidenville site will be open to weekend campers throughout Friday afternoon and into the early hours of Saturday morning, including the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience.

Friday Night at Eddfest is all about fun before the big day. The campsite comes alive with direct access to the heart of Maidenville and the entertainment is a blend of bands and artists with connections to Maiden - some obscure, some as clear as daylight but they all have something in common and deserve to be a part of the opening night celebration.

Iron Maiden expand Run For Your Lives World Tour

Iron Maiden has expanded its Run For Your Lives World Tour with the addition of dates in Central & South America.

In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, the band will be performing at stadiums across the region in 2026.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this Run For Your Lives Tour to Latin America next year,” says Steve Harris. “It’s no secret that some of our most passionate fans are to be found across Central and South America and our relationship with them is something very special. We absolutely love playing there and know that everyone at these shows is going to have a brilliant time – including all of us in the band for sure! Tickets go on general sale next week, except for El Salvador and Costa Rica which will go on sale in February 2026.

Iron Maiden add dates to North American tour

Iron Maiden has added a pair of dates to the North American leg of the 2026 Run For Your Lives World Tour.

"Due to overwhelming demand", the UK rockers will perform second shows in Toronto and Los Angeles for the series, which also serves as a celebration of their 50th Anniversary.

The leg will mark 45 years since Iron Maiden first visited Canada and the USA on the 1981 Killer World Tour, and feature some of the biggest shows the band has ever played there.

The month-long run - with Megadeth and some appearances by Anthrax - will open in Toronto, ON on August 29.

General public tickets will go on sale Friday October 31.

Iron Maiden announce North American tour

Iron Maiden have announced dates for the North American leg of the band's 2026 Run For Your Lives World Tour.

In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, the band will be performing at stadiums and major amphitheaters across the United States and Canada, delivering a once-in-a-lifetime setlist of songs from the group's groundbreaking first nine albums.

The leg will mark 45 years since Iron Maiden first visited Canada and the USA on the 1981 Killer World Tour, and feature some of the biggest shows the band has ever played there.

The month-long run - whith openers Megadeth and some appearances by Anthrax - will open in Toronto, ON on August 29.

“We are greatly looking forward to bringing this Run For Your Lives Tour to North America and hope the fans enjoy seeing the show and hearing the set list as much as we do playing it," says Steve Harris. "It’s an added bonus to have a few of our good friends on the tour with us. Megadeth are playing all the shows and it’s an honour to have them join us on their last ever tour. We also have Anthrax with us on the bigger shows, we had a great time with them when they came out with us on Ed Force One around the world in 2016. We’re delighted to have both bands with us for this tour and know our fans will enjoy seeing them.”

An exclusive Iron Maiden Fan Club presale begins on Tuesday October 28, while headline shows go on general sale on Friday October 31.

Iron Maiden announce 2026 Run For Your Lives World Tour

Iron Maiden has announced the first dates of a very busy schedule for 2026, starting with a summer return to Europe to predominantly play festivals and also stadiums in countries and regions not visited in 2025. The subsequent month will see the start of visits to many other parts of the world, all of which will be announced later.

So far, the announced 2026 schedule will kick off May 23 in Athens, Greece and run until July 11 at the UK’s Knebworth Park.

The initial European dates and more headline festival shows will be announced by the festivals themselves in parallel with ironmaiden.com. It’s a busy year so following this there will be no Maiden shows in 2027.

“We are all loving this Run For Your Lives Tour,” says Steve Harris. “The fans have been amazing, the set list is perfect for the 50th Anniversary, the show is arguably our best ever and ticket demand was incredible with pretty much everywhere sold out and over a million fans attending. So we all thought we should play some more shows in Europe before heading out to other parts of the world later in the year.

“Of course Simon Dawson will be joining us once again on the drummer’s stool, and both he and the whole band would like to thank our fans for the terrific reception you have given him on the first leg.

"We’ve always enjoyed playing festivals, especially as we get to play to people who aren’t just there for us, and we love that challenge! So we decided to revisit as many great Metal festivals as we could get to in this period. Plus we will also get to play stadiums in Greece, Romania and Bulgaria where we didn’t get to this year and have always loved playing to the passionate fans out there.”

The 2025 Run For Your Lives World Tour trek saw Iron Maiden play shows across Europe from May to August.

Iron Maiden share recap video of Run For Your Lives Tour launch

Iron Maiden is sharing a recap video of the opening night of the band’s Run For Your Lives Tour.

The May 27 event at the Budapest Arena in Hungary saw the iconic UK outfit deliver a 17-song set of tracks highlighting the band’s early era, including the first performances for some in more than 20 years - and the first show with new touring drummer Simon Dawson following the retirement of long time member Nicko McBrain.

“Well, what a way of starting this monumental tour with a couple of sold-out nights In Budapest,” shared manager Rod Smallwood. “It was the perfect place to open this tour - a great venue, an incredible city, in fact, one of my favourites, and you very passionate Hungarian fans. And of course, not forgetting the travelling fans that came from far and very wide to experience the excitement of the big reveal! To see hundreds of fans and FC members in the aptly-named Heroes Square the day before the first show was fantastic as always.

“We were delighted to see the reaction and appreciation for the new production that has enabled everyone to experience these iconic songs in a way we’ve never been able to before. This was quite an operation to achieve but we will let you have more insight into that very soon.

We also want to acknowledge the amazing welcome you gave Simon on his first shows with us. He felt your support from the start — and asks me to thank you all.

“A huge thank you to every one of you who kept your phones down, respected the band and your fellow fans, and embraced the show the way it’s meant to be experienced - in the room with us. That was a great boost for us and the band appreciated it greatly. It is so much better when they can see you unencumbered and that drives them on without that distraction. For the selfish few that didn’t and just had to keep videoing... I wish you nothing but a very sore arm! But they were few, and we do hope this support from fans, especially in the floor area in front of the sound desk, continues in Prague tomorrow and beyond. As I said before, by all means take the odd quick pic as a memento of a great night, but otherwise please keep your phone in your pocket.

“On we go now to the first huge outdoor show and another fantastic sold out crowd waiting for us. We’re starting to hit our stride already and it’s going to be some ride for these next couple of months.

The 2025 Run For Your Lives series marks 50 years since bassist Steve Harris formed the band in East London on Christmas Day in 1975 after leaving his former outfit, Smiler; the new group rehearsed for months before making its official live debut in May of 1976.

Iron Maiden released its debut EP, “The Soundhouse Tapes”, in 1979 before issuing a self-titled album the following year; the group has delivered 17 studio albums to date up to and including 2021’s “Senjutsu.”

Iron Maiden currently has tour dates scheduled into August, with more expected to be announced at some point as part of a 2-year global trek.

Official Iron Maiden documentary announced

Universal Pictures Content Group announce it has commenced production on an official untitled Iron Maiden feature documentary.

Universal Pictures Content Group hold global rights and Universal Pictures International is set to release in cinemas internationally in Fall 2025, coinciding with the band’s 50th anniversary year. US theatrical distribution is yet to be confirmed.

The long-awaited documentary is an emotive journey through Iron Maiden’s 50 Year history told from the perspective of both the band and some of their most devoted followers – from longstanding superfans to established names from the worlds of film and music such as Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich and Gene Simmons. The documentary will also feature exclusive interviews with pivotal band members including the final interview with original vocalist, Paul Di’Anno, who sadly died last year.

Featuring rare archival footage and all-new animated sequences of the band’s legendary mascot, Eddie, the film offers a unique visual experience that highlights Iron Maiden’s widespread impact and the strong connection between the band and their truly global army of fans. The film also explores the cultural movement Iron Maiden has helped shape and their enduring legacy in both music and fan culture, challenging common perceptions of the wider significance of rock music and heavy metal.

“We’re proud Universal Pictures Content Group has chosen to share the unique story of Iron Maiden with the world,” says band manager Rod Smallwood. “We have given them unrestricted access to the band, our fans and musical peers. We trust that they will excite not only music fans but also anyone who loves a story of an underdog beating the odds to become and remain one of Britain’s biggest musical exports since our first record released 45 years ago.”

The official untitled Iron Maiden documentary is directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film).

Iron Maiden were formed in east London 50 years ago in 1975 and were seen to pioneer the globally inspiring new wave of British heavy metal movement. They have sold well over 100 million records worldwide, performing more than 2500 concerts in 64 countries across 6 continents.

Later this year they will add to this number as they embark on their huge Run For Your Lives Tour starting in Budapest, Hungary in May.

Iron Maiden share Nicko McBrain tribute from his final concert

Iron Maiden is sharing a video tribute to drummer Nicko McBrain from his final concert with the band in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 7, following his retirement from touring after more than 40 years with the iconic band.

A video package from the event at Allianz Parque includes backstage and on stage footage, including a salute on behalf of the band by singer Bruce Dickinson.

"Tonight is a very special night,” Dickinson told the crowd. “As some of you, I think probably all of you will know, because this morning we announced, Nicko announced that he was stepping back from playing live with Iron Maiden. So, for 42 years Nicko's been in this band. He was a drummer before I was a singer, he was a pilot before I was a pilot, and now he's not leaving the band, but he's just not playing live with us anymore.

“If you do what you gotta do out there tonight, so let him know how much he's loved everybody. So, we have a lot more music to get to tonight, and I want the rest of the night to be a celebration of Nick, a celebration of the joy that he's brought to everybody around the world, not just here in Brazil, alright. And with that, on we go."

"After much consideration, it is with both sorrow and joy, I announce my decision to take a step back from the grind of the extensive touring lifestyle,” shared McBrain on social media before the show. “Today, Sat, Dec 7th, Sao Paulo will be my final gig with Iron Maiden. I wish the band much success moving forward.

"I will, however, remain firmly part of the Iron Maiden family working on a variety of projects, my long time managers, Rod Smallwood and Andy Taylor, have in mind for me. I'll also be working on a variety of different personal projects and focusing on my existing businesses and ventures, including The British Drum Company, Nicko McBrain's Drum One, Titanium Tart, and of course, Rock-N-Roll Ribs!”

The drummer joined Iron Maiden in 1982 after the group fired Clive Burr during a tour in support of its third album, “The Number Of The Beast.”

McBrain suffered a stroke in January 2023 hat left him temporarily paralyzed on his right side from the shoulder down; after months of intense therapy, the drummer regrouped with the band for world tour dates.
