Peter Gabriel performed a full concert as part of his Wednesday evening appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.
The Live On Letterman series webcast was streamed live at 9 PM eastern on Wednesday, giving fans at home the chance to witness the show from New York’s famed Ed Sullivan Theatre.
The appearance was designed to promote Gabriel’s new releases: “New Blood,” a studio album featuring stripped-down versions of songs from Peter’s extensive catalogue, and “New Blood Live In London,” a concert film presenting Gabriel and a 46-piece orchestra in concert at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in March of this year.
Next week, Gabriel launches a South America tour with shows in Brazil, Chile and Argentina, before heading to Mexico for three concerts.
Peter Gabriel appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday to promote his latest releases, “New Blood” and “New Blood Live In London.”
The projects are based on his 2010 tour, which saw Gabriel perform with a 46-piece orchestra, playing reworked versions of songs from his legendary catalogue.
“New Blood” is a studio album featuring very stripped-down versions of Peter’s work, while “New Blood Live In London” captures Gabriel and his orchestra in concert at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in March of this year.
On Letterman, Gabriel sat down for an interview with Dave before performing his classic,“Red Rain,” with a full orchestra.
In the past year, Peter Gabriel toured with a 46-piece orchestra, performing reworked versions of songs from his storied catalogue.
This month, Gabriel fans will get to relive the experience in two different ways: a studio album inspired by the collaboration, as well as a live DVD of the concert tour.
First up, on October 10, is “New Blood,” a studio album featuring very stripped-down versions of Peter’s work. The album will be available as a standard single-disc & digital download. There will also be a special edition 2-CD version of “New Blood” which will include the standard album plus a disc of instrumental versions with an added bonus track. In addition there is a heavyweight vinyl version that comes with a bonus 7” featuring "A Quiet Moment" and "Solsbury Hill." The vinyl will be available from November 7th.

Then, on October 24, Gabriel issues the concert film "New Blood Live In London." Filmed in high definition 3D at Hammersmith Apollo in March of this year, "New Blood -- Live In London In 3 Dimensions" captures Gabriel performing cover versions from his "Scratch My Back" album with classic tracks from across his solo career in brand new orchestral arrangements.
This show was filmed in high definition 3D and is available to buy on multiple formats: the triple-pack 3D release (contains the 3D Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray and DVD versions), regular Blu-ray, and standard DVD. A deluxe limited edition comes as an 11.5" square 60 page hardback photobook containing the live DVD and Blu-ray, the CD of the "New Blood" studio album and an exclusive CD of live tracks from the show.
