Meat Loaf doesn’t want to see Steven Tyler on American Idol

"I think Steven [Tyler] is one of the great rock vocalists of all time," Meat Loaf tells USA Today. "I have so much respect for him [but] there's just something about me that says, 'I love Steven, but I don't want to see him on American Idol. I just don't.”

Loaf begins his own reality show career as a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice, which launches next month, and he’s aware that that his fans may feel the same way about his presence, as he feels about Tyler’s.

“So there may be some people out there that feel the same way about me [and think] 'God, I can't believe Meat Loaf is on Celebrity Apprentice. I just can't watch him on that.'"

It took Donald Trump to get him to commit. "I can't tell you why I said I would do it but it struck me at that moment and [I said] "Yeah, I'll do this,'"

Loaf, 63, has apparently been offered roles on other reality TV shows, including Dancing With the Stars, and he has even had opportunities to do his own. "Not a chance." he said.
