Def Leppard tops the hennemusic Hot 10

Rock fans tuned in large to Def Leppard’s return to US TV as the band’s Tonight Show appearance lands it atop the hennemusic Hot 10.

Leppard stopped by the show to play their classic, “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” while plugging both their new live album, “Mirrorball” (out next month), as well as a summer tour with Heart across North America.

The HH10 is a list of the most-viewed rock news stories in the past week by hennemusic readers.

Last week’s HH10 chart-topper slipped to #2, so it’s safe to say there’s still a lot of interest in Mick Jagger’s daughter, Elizabeth, and her June appearance in the U.K. edition of Playboy.

Huge news for Van Halen fans this past week as the band’s first series of 2011 shows were announced. VH headline the Soundwave Revolution annual music festival in major cities around Australia this Fall. While VH are never ones to update fans on things, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready did give the world a glance inside the VH sessions, as he stopped in for a visit and snagged a photo with Eddie VH (#7 on the HH 10).

There’s always a whole lotta love for Led Zeppelin, so news that Jason Bonham’s Led Zep Experience has switched up its setlist for their second Stateside visit landed in the #4 spot this week.

30 years after reggae icon Bob Marley’s passing, Jimmy Fallon dedicated a week of shows to the music giant, with special guests coming by each night to perform a Marley classic. Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell – fresh off his first-ever solo acoustic “Songbook” tour - delivered a stunning acoustic version of “Redemption Song,” which hits #5 on the HH10.

Other big news among hennemusic readers include an update on rehearsals for Judas Priest’s final world tour; Aerosmith turning down American Idol – despite Steven Tyler’s repeated assertions that they’d play the show’s upcoming finale; AC/DC’s continued stance against music downloads; and, late in the week, a Pink Floyd reunion at Roger Waters’ London show, as the bassist was joined by both David Gilmour and Nick Mason for only the second time in 30 years.
