2020 hennemusic Rock News Awards announced

The countdown begins this week to the launch of the 2020 hennemusic Rock News Awards, which recognize the biggest rock news artists and stories of the past year.

In the tradition of the weekly hennemusic Hot 10, the daily rock news outlet will count down the Top 10 Rock News Artists and the Top 10 Rock News Stories of 2020 starting Tuesday December 8.

Finalists for the 11th annual hennemusic Rock News Awards are chosen by readers: the Rock News Story Of The Year is determined by page views, while the Rock News Artist Of The Year is based on the combined total page views of the top 50 hennemusic rock news stories of the past twelve months.

“What a long, strange year it’s been,” says publisher Bruce Henne, “as the world continues to deal with the pandemic. Like many others, the live music industry shut down in 2020, leaving artists to find new ways to stay in touch with fans – from virtual videos and streaming series to concert films and livestream performances – and hennemusic was there to keep music lovers up to date with the latest rock news each day.”

The Rolling Stones swept the 2019 event, while previous honorees include The Eagles, AC/DC and Van Halen, among others.

A daily rock news service dedicated to providing music fans with an accurate, timely and reliable source for music news, hennemusic serves as a trusted source for rock fans who need updated information on their favorite artists and events.

An affiliate of the Los Angeles-based antiMusic Network, hennemusic is an “official news provider” for the Day In Rock.

The 2020 hennemusic Rock News Awards winners will be revealed on Thursday December 17 at hennemusic.com.

hennemusic celebrates 10th anniversary

Daily rock news site hennemusic.com is celebrating its 10th anniversary on February 1.

Launched in 2010 by veteran award-winning Canadian broadcaster Bruce Henne, the daily news service is dedicated to providing music fans with an accurate, timely and reliable source for rock news.

hennemusic reports are regularly featured by global rock artists, trusted media brands and dedicated artist fan sites, and are shared by music fans around the world.

The hennemusic Hot 10 delivers a countdown of the biggest stories of each week and influences the annual hennemusic Rock Music News AwardsThe Rolling Stones recently swept the 2019 edition when readers named them Rock News Artist and Rock News Story Of The Year.

The media outlet recently reached a new milestone when the daily rock news site passed 15 million views since its debut, with a growing content library for fans to access that now features more than 16,000 stories on the ongoing history of rock as it unfolds in real time.

“I would like to extend a huge thanks to hennemusic readers for all their support in our first decade,” says Publisher Bruce Henne, “as well as the artists, record labels and media sites who help share our work so that fans can stay current on the daily rock news.”

A music media veteran, Henne graduated from the Radio Broadcasting program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON in 1984 before becoming Station Manager at the school’s campus radio outlet, where he was honored with an Alumni Award for his work while also writing music news for multiple media brands in the area.

Henne jumped to network radio in 1989 as a member of Westwood One Canada before joining the country’s largest rock station, Q107-FM Toronto, to help launch the Rock Radio Network (RRN) in 1991; he helped create, market and build major music brands – including The Legends Of Classic Rock, The Ongoing History Of New Music, Corus Entertainment’s Deep Sky, and ExploreMusic – over the next two decades as the RRN was twice named Network Of The Year by the Canadian music industry.

Henne has worked with virtually every major rock act in the business while producing Rockline, Little Steven's Underground Garage, and other U.S.-based shows for Canadians, creating radio series like All Access and One On One, and producing more than 400 music specials, world album premieres and live broadcast events.

Van Halen continue to dominate the hennemusic Hot 10.

This week’s #1 position gives VH 6 of the first 7 HH10 #1s of 2012, interrupted only by Jimmy Fallon’s “Tebowie” video.

Top story: Before it was in stores, former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar spent time in his Chickenfoot media interviews slamming VH’s new album, “A Different Kind Of Truth,” without having heard it.

hennemusic celebrates 2nd Anniversary

February 1 marks the 2nd Anniversary of the launch of hennemusic.

Thanks to the support of music fans, hennemusic has continued to grow as a rock news service.

We’ve published more than 3400 rock news stories to date, including 2200 in the past twelve months.

That’s a LOT of ROCK!

hennemusic news reports are regularly featured by trusted media brands, artist websites and dedicated artist fan sites, and are shared by music fans around the globe – in more than 190 countries!

And it's music fans who made the 2nd annual hennemusic Rock News Awards a cool event – as the winners are determined by you, our readers.

hennemusic continues its partnership with antiMusic, one of the premier rock music news sites in the world.

An online music network of more than 30 websites, antiMusic collates reports from the network to create the Day In Rock. In the fall of 2010, hennemusic became the first “official news provider” for the Day In Rock, ahead of mainstream media brands.

In 2011, hennemusic provided antiMusic readers with their top 2 rock news stories of the year, and 5 of the top 11.

I’d like to offer you, my readers, a HUGE THANKS for all the support you’ve shown hennemusic – from your visits, comments, support of the site's sponsors, Facebook and Twitter action, and referrals to your friends and fellow rock fans.

Please continue to spread the word.

2012 is shaping up to be a HUGE year for rock, but you wouldn’t be faulted for doing a double-take on the calendar, based on the biggest acts on the horizon in the next few months: Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones

…and hennemusic plans to be there as your rock news source in 2012.

Cheers!
