7 new shows have been added, including stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, Pompano Beach, Orlando and Dallas.
The trek is in support of their new album, “A Dramatic Turn Of Events,” due September 13.
Most of the shows on the first leg are with label mates Trivium; the tour gets underway in San Francisco on September 24.
“When it comes to touring with Dream Theater, we’ve toured with everyone from Coldplay to Alicia Keys to Zao to Dimmu Borgir, so it’s like we go all around the board,” Trivium vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy tells Bloody Disgusting. “Also, every day, every show we’ve played since I was about 16 years old, I’ve used the John Petrucci Rock Disciplines warm-ups on VHS and I’ve got it memorized. I warm up for every single show to his exercises.”
