Steven Tyler officially back for more American Idol

There will be a familiar look at the judges table for the next season of American Idol, as Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson have all officially signed on for season 11 of the televised singing contest.

Idol Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe confirmed the news during a call to "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Wednesday morning.

"I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol, is back for next season," said Lythgoe.

Lythgoe also confirmed that the panel of judges will soon hit the road for season 11 auditions in Denver, Houston, St. Louis, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Charleston and Portland.

Despite Tyler trying to will Aerosmith to play the season 10 finale in May, it never came together and the singer performed an abbreviated version of the band’s classic, “Dream On,” backed by members of the Stone Temple Pilots.

At the time, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry explained that the band was “never asked by producers” to play the show, adding "Brad [Whitford had] a gig that night with [Experience Hendrix]. [It was] not logistically possible." Perry did later write that Aerosmith is "looking forward to playing 'American Idol' next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare [for] a kick-ass show, if they ask us."

Aerosmith are currently in the studio working on the group’s first album of new material since 2001's "Just Push Play."
