Van Halen release their new single “Tattoo,” on Tuesday; it’s from the band’s forthcoming album, “A Different Kind Of Truth,” due February 7.
There’s a video for it, as well, which premieres the same day, and the gang at Vevo have drafted up a list of their first impressions from checking it out.
5 Things Vevo Learned From The New Van Halen Video – “Tattoo”
By Vevo.com
We’re premiering the new Van Halen video, “Tattoo,” tomorrow (it’s a VEVO exclusive). Make sure you’re here to bask in the power chords, hula dancing, and balloon party. After enjoying several spins through it this afternoon, a few things have become obvious. May we please share them with you?
1. DAVE OWNS A BOOMERANG SCARF
He spends the video strutting up a storm, at one point blending a sailor’s hornpipe with Michael’s moonwalk. But the real fun comes when he throws that scarf away.
2. HE ALSO DOES A PRETTY GOOD BARRY WHITE
“You best believe that needle hurts you,” croaks Roth in a theatrical basso, “best see these true colors and follow one of your false virtues.”
3.EDDIE’S SOLOS ARE STILL FULL OF THRILLS
The guitarist takes one of his trademark “spray the sky” breaks, and in a mere 34 seconds elicits innumerable goose bumps.
4. THE GUYS CONSIDER THEIR STAGE SHOW A CHANCE TO GAS IT UP AND RACE AROUND THE TRACK
How else can you explain the checkered flag kick-off to the video?
5. FEW SINGERS OVER 50 CAN WAIL “SEXY DRAGON MAGIC” WITH AS MUCH COMMITMENT AS ROTH
It’s an utterly silly declaration, but Dave totally owns it, and his authority assures that at least a stadium’s worth of fans will be screaming it during the tour. Maybe two stadiums’ worth.
