Family dies in car crash on way to Van Halen concert

A family was killed in car crash on their way to a Van Halen concert in Dallas this week.

The Victoria Advocate reports Tuesday afternoon's three-vehicle crash claimed the lives of Felipe Garcia, 39, and his two children - Brandon, 9, and Anthony, 10, as well as Garcia's girlfriend, Christine Salazar, 42.

En route to see Van Halen play at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the four were traveling north on Alternate U.S. Highway 77, a half-mile north of Alternate U.S. Highway 90 near Hallettsville when the crash occurred.

Garcia lost control of his 2003 Ford Explorer on the wet roadway and crossed into the southbound lane; the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Thomas Jimenez, of Yoakum, according to the Texas Department Of Safety report.

The truck then jack-knifed into the northbound lane and struck a 2007 Honda CRV.

Four people in the Honda CRV were treated for minor injuries at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville and released.

The truck driver was not injured.
