Lottery winner wants to reunite original Guns N’ Roses lineup

A UK man who won £148 million (approximately $232 million) in last Friday's EuroMillions lottery draw has said he wants to spend some of that money reuniting the original lineup of Guns N’ Roses.

41-year-old Adrian Bayford, who runs the Suffolk Music Centre in Haverhill, Suffolk, joked about what “super-group” he would get together now he has near-limitless funds, telling The Sun, "I think I would just have to get Guns N’ Roses together — the original lineup, mind. I'm a real fan."

EuroMillions is a transnational lottery based in Paris, France with biweekly draws on Tuesday and Fridays.

Guns N’ Roses induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this past spring wasn’t enough to reunite the original members, with Axl Rose opting out of the event.

Axl’s disdain for guitarist Slash is so intense that reports from a recent UK tour by Rose and the current GNR lineup indicated that fans were being barred from entry into the concerts if they were spotted wearing a Slash t-shirt – read all about it here.

In addition, Rose launched a $20 million lawsuit in 2010 against the makers of the video game Guitar Hero III over issues concerning the inclusion of Slash’s image after the singer claimed the company misled him into agreeing to license GNR songs on the basis that the guitarist’s likeness would not be included in the game’s production. Slash’s image was ultimately used in the final product – including an active avatar and music from Velvet Revolver – and he was featured on the front cover of the game package.

For his part, Slash told CNN's Piers Morgan in May that no amount of money could ever get the original GNR lineup to reunite.

"I don't think it's a matter of that; it really isn't,” said Slash. “I think you've got a situation where nobody involved wants to revisit. It's not just me — it's the whole band. And so I don't think there's a price tag that anybody's put in front of us that's going to make that work."
