The unveiling of a statue honoring late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott is planned for Bon Fest 2014 in the singer’s former home town of Kirriemuir, Scotland.
The Kirriemuir Herald reports the annual festival will be moved from its usual May time slot to the 15th, 16th and 17th of August in the hope that this will coincide with the unveiling of the statue planned for the centre of town.
Fundraising for the project began in May of this year; organizers DD8 Music aim to raise £50,000 for the statue, for which they have commissioned renowned sculptor John McKenna to produce a work of art that exemplifies Bon's spirit and his Scottish roots.
The Scottish AC/DC tribute band Volts will headline a show at the Town Hall in October, with all proceeds going towards the statue fund.
