Neil Young & Crazy Horse have announced the cancellation of the final seven shows of a European tour following an accident that has left guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro with a broken hand.
“Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled,” posted the group on Wednesday. “We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.”
"It's a mild fracture," a source close to the Young camp tells Rolling Stone of Sampedro’s status. "He's expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour."
Neil and the band are scheduled to perform a short run of dates beginning at the end of August before appearing at Farm Aid next month and the annual Bridge School Benefit in October.
