San Francisco Giants to host 2nd annual Metallica Night in 2014

Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants will host the 2nd annual Metallica Night at AT&T Park in 2014.

“Winter might be right around the corner, but we’re already thinking about baseball!,” posted the band. “We had such an amazing time last year supporting our local team and hanging at the yard that we jumped at the chance to do it all again with the San Francisco Giants as the second annual Metallica Night will take place on Friday, May 16, 2014. When the Giants take the field that night against the Miami Marlins, we'll be on hand to kick it off with the National Anthem and first pitch, joining the orange and black faithful for the rest of the evening for all kinds of Metalli-fun and games.”

Special event tickets for this game go on sale as part of Orange and Black Friday, November 29 at 8:00 AM PST.

The special event Metallica ticket package includes a ticket to the game and a limited edition Metallica/Giants goodie that the band will reveal at a later date.

A portion of the proceeds from every Metallica Night special event ticket will benefit the Little Kids Rock Bay Area Chapter.

The first Metallica Night at AT&T Park took place May 3, 2013; the event featured guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performing the national anthem (see it here) while drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch (watch it here).

Hetfield was honored by Little Kids Rock during the organization's recent 2013 Rockin’ The Bay Benefit event at the headquarters of Facebook in Menlo Park, California.

James received the "Livin' The Dream Award", named in honor of Josef Desimone, head chef at Facebook, who supported Little Kids Rock and passed away this past summer in a motorcycle accident.
