The Beatles have debuted at No. 7 on the US Billboard 200 album chart with their newly-released “On Air - Live At the BBC Vol. 2” package.
Billboard reports the set sold 37,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the band their 31st US Top 10 album.
The Beatles rank fourth on the list of most top 10 albums since the Billboard 200 became a weekly chart in March 1956; The Rolling Stones are in first with 36; Frank Sinatra is second with 33; Barbra Streisand is third with 32; and, Elvis Presley rounds out the Top 5 with 27.
“On Air - Live At the BBC Vol. 2” features 63 tracks, none of which overlaps with The Beatles’ first BBC set, including 37 previously unreleased performances and 23 previously unreleased recordings of in-studio banter and conversation between the band’s members and their BBC radio hosts.
Between March 1962 and June 1965, no fewer than 275 unique musical performances by The Beatles were broadcast by the BBC in the U.K.; the group played songs on 39 radio shows in 1963 alone.
