The Rolling Stones paid tribute to The Beatles during a June 9 concert at Anfield Stadium in the band’s hometown of Liverpool, UK.
“We had decided to rehearse a special version of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,'”Mick Jagger told the crowd, referencing the 1960s hit by Gerry And The Pacemakers that serves as the anthem of local soccer team Liverpool FC, who play at Anfield, “but we decided instead to do a cover song written by other local lads, so we’ll do this especially for you.”
The Stones then launched into their version of the John Lennon-Paul McCartney song, “I Wanna Be Your Man”, for the first time in a decade.
Lennon-McCartney originally gave the song to the Stones in 1963 – who released it as their second single and went on to have a Top 15 UK hit with it – before The Beatles issued their own recording of the track on their second album, “With The Beatles.”
The Liverpool event marked the third date of the Stones’ 60th anniversary tour, following shows in Madrid, Spain and Munich, Germany.
“From Liverpool with love!,” shared the Stones on social media after the concert. “It was great to see you all tonight.”
The 2022 tour will continue with a June 13 appearance in Amsterdam.
The Beatles will screen their legendary 1969 rooftop concert – as featured in the new docuseries “Get Back” – in IMAX as part of an exclusive event on January 30.
The evening will see footage of the band’s live performance on the rooftop of Apple Corps’ Savile Row headquarters on January 30, 1969 featured alongside a Q&A with filmmaker Peter Jackson.

Peter Frampton is streaming video of his cover of George Harrison’s 1970 classic, “Isn’t It A Pity”, as the latest preview to his forthcoming instrumental album, “Frampton Forgets The Words.”
The guitarist says the track from Harrison's “All Things Must Pass” album “was the track I could hear playing when I first arrived at Abbey Road to record. We have all been in the same boat for over a year now. Our video lets you into my world of lockdown and possibly yours too. I think we can all relate.”
Harrison included the song on his triple-album package after it had been rejected years earlier by The Beatles; it featured Ringo Starr on drums and was issued as the b-side to the set’s lead single, “My Sweet Lord”, going on become a hit of its own in some countries.
Due April 23, “Frampton Forgets The Words” features some of the rocker’s favorite material.
The project has been previewed with Frampton’s versions of Radiohead’s 2007 single, “Reckoner”, the 1982 Roxy Music classic, “Avalon”, and David Bowie’s 1984 track, “Loving The Alien.”

Director Peter Jackson has released an exclusive sneak peek of his upcoming documentary, “The Beatles: Get Back.”
Shot in January 1969 and compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage (filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been restored, “The Beatles: Get Back” is the story of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they plan their first live show in over two years and charts the writing and rehearsing of 14 new songs, originally intended for release on an accompanying live album.
The film features for the first time in its entirety, The Beatles' last live performance as a group – a rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row – as well as other songs featured on the band’s final two albums, “Abbey Road” and “Let It Be.”
The preview delivers a montage of footage from the project, which is scheduled to debut in cinemas on August 27, 2021
“We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat,” says Jackson, “so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film ‘The Beatles: Get Back.’ We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time.”
The Beatles will release a new vinyl box set, “The Singles Collection”, on November 22.
From 1962 to 1970, The Beatles released 22 UK singles; of those 44 A and B-side tracks, 29 were not included on the group’s British albums at that time.
These singles, plus an exclusive new double A-side single for the mid-1990s-issued tracks “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” are newly cut for vinyl from their original mono and stereo master tapes by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios for a new limited edition package.
“The Beatles: The Singles Collection” presents 46 tracks on 23 180-gram seven-inch vinyl singles in faithfully reproduced international picture sleeves – from the band’s star-making 1962 debut single, “Love Me Do” with its B-side “P.S. I Love You”, to their 1970 finale of “Let It Be” / “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number).”
The records are accompanied by a 40-page booklet with photos, ephemera, and detailed essays by Beatles historian Kevin Howlett.
“The Singles Collection” follows the September 27 release of The Beatles’ "Abbey Road" album in a suite of 50th Anniversary Edition packages.

The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” has returned to the US Top 10 for the first time in five decades.
According to Billboard, a series of 50th anniversary reissues has pushed the project from No. 71 to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 after selling 81,000 equivalent album units and earning an 803% increase over the previous sales window.
“Abbey Road” spent 11 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in late 1969 and early 1970, and last appeared in the US Top 10 on April 25, 1970.
The 2019 reissues deliver a new mix of the full original record by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell alongside 23 session recordings and demos, most of which have not been previously available.
The US chart news follows headlines from the UK, where “Abbey Road” made chart history when it landed at No. 1 and set a new Guinness Book Of World Record for the longest time for an album to do so in the country at 49 years and 252 days.

The clip shifts to animation of the Fab Four’s feet crossing the famous road, with a white bird watching over them; it concludes with footage of the band’s final photo session on May 4, 1969, nearly a year before they announced their breakup in 1970. The group stands in England’s Tittenhurst Park surrounded by wildflowers, on the same grounds as John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s home Berkshire.

Paul McCartney is streaming a previously-unreleased demo recording of “Dear Friend”, from the forthcoming Wings reissue of their 1971 album, “Wild Life.”
The tune is the John Lennon-inspired closing track of the group’s debut record.
“With ‘Dear Friend,’ that’s sort of me talking to John after we’d had all the sort of disputes about The Beatles breakup," says McCartney. "I find it very emotional when I listen to it now. I have to sort of choke it back. I remember when I heard the song recently, listening to the roughs [remastering works-in-progress] in the car and I thought, ‘Oh God.’ That lyric: ‘Really truly, young and newly wed,’ listening to that was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s true.’ I’m trying to say to John, ‘Look, you know, it’s all cool. Have a glass of wine. Let’s be cool.’”
“And luckily we did get it back together, which was like a great source of joy because it would have been terrible if he’d been killed as things were at that point and I’d never got to straighten it out with him. This was me reaching out. So, I think it’s very powerful in some very simple way. But it was certainly heartfelt.”
McCartney is also streaming a newly-remastered version of “Dear Friend” from the reissue, which will be released – alongside 1973’s "Red Rose Speedway" – on December 7.
“Wild Life” was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios in just over a week during the summer of 1971, with more than half of the songs completed live in a single take.
The album reached No. 10 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to gold status in the country for sales of 500,000 copies.

The Beatles are streaming a previously-unheard acoustic version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” as the latest preview to the upcoming 50th anniversary reissue of The White Album.
According to Rolling Stone, take 2 of the tune was recorded on July 25, 1968 and features songwriter George Harrison on guitar and vocals while Paul McCartney works out the chords on harmonium.
The song was eventually completed in September of that year when Harrison brought in Eric Clapton to add lead guitar to a full band mix.

The project will issued in a 7-disc Super Deluxe box set package, a 3CD Deluxe edition and a 2LP vinyl version, with all formats presenting a new 2018 remix of the landmark record.
The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” has been named Britain’s most popular studio album of all time in a new survey by The Official Charts Company.
The groundbreaking 1967 album topped a list of the UK’s 40 most popular records – ranked by combining physical sales, downloads and streams – in honor of the country’s first-ever National Album Day on October 13, which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the format.
“Sgt. Pepper’s” tallied a combined 5.34 million sales, placing them ahead of a Top 5 that includes Adele’s 2011 album, “21”, in second place with 5.11 million, followed by 1995’s “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory” by Oasis at 4.94 million, Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic, “The Dark Side Of The Moon”, at 4.47 million, and Michael Jackson’s 1982 album, “Thriller”, with 4.47 million.
The Top 40 chart – which reflects UK album sales of 135 million copies across more than 60 years – features a total of 25 records by British acts, 8 by US artists, 4 by Canadian acts and 2 by Irish acts; the remaining album is by the US/UK band Fleetwood Mac.
Last year, The Beatles released a series of 50th anniversary reissues of “Sgt. Pepper’s” featuring a new stereo mix of the project by Giles Martin – son of original producer George Martin – and Sam Okell that also presented previously-unheard alternate takes from the 1967 studio sessions.

A 7-disc Super Deluxe box set (see track list below) adds the “Esher” demos and additional recording from the album’s sessions alongside a Blu-ray of mixes that includes a surround sound version; a 3CD Deluxe package includes the stereo mix and Esher demos; and, a 2LP vinyl edition delivers the new stereo mix.
“In remixing ‘The White Album,’ we’ve tried to bring you as close as possible to The Beatles in the studio,” explains Martin in his written introduction for the new edition. “We’ve peeled back the layers of the ‘Glass Onion’ with the hope of immersing old and new listeners into one of the most diverse and inspiring albums ever made.”
