John Mellencamp has revealed the cover of his forthcoming new album, “Plain Spoken.”

Due this fall, the Indiana rocker’s 22nd album is the first project under a newly-signed and unprecedented lifetime recording contract with Republic Records.

“Not only has he served as an ambassador of social consciousness in America, but he has also provided the soundtrack of a generation,” said Republic Records co-founder and chief executive Monte Lipman. “We’re thrilled to be working with John Mellencamp as part of this historic deal.”

“Plain Spoken” is his first new studio release since 2010’s “No Better Than This.”

Mellencamp recently wrapped up a summer tour of North America; next, he’ll perform at Farm Aid 2014 in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 13.
