VIDEO: Foo Fighters preview HBO series Sonic Highways

The Foo Fighters have issued a video preview of the forthcoming HBO series about the recording of their new album, “Sonic Highways.”

Premiering Friday, October 17 at 11 p.m., the project will see the band visit, and record music at, some of the world's most iconic recording studios in 8 US cities – Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, DC.

Frontman Dave Grohl will also conduct interviews for the series, speaking with some of the artists who have recorded at each facility.

A few weeks after the 8-episode series launches, the Foo Fighters will release their new album, “Sonic Highways”, on November 10.

In a rare move, the project will be available globally on the same day, as opposed to staggered release dates by region.

Featuring 8 tracks, the band’s 8th studio album is produced by Butch Vig.

“Sonic Highways” will be available on CD and 180 gram vinyl; the vinyl includes a download card and comes in an assortment of nine different covers – including eight variants each themed for one of the cities in which the album was recorded.

Each of the city-specific covers features the number 8 somewhere in the artwork.

The only place where fans can order a specific cover (or covers) is sonichighways.foofighters.com
