Steven Tyler to perform on CMA Country Christmas special

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will team up with Brad Paisley to perform on ABC-TV’s CMA Country Christmas special this fall.

Airing Monday, December 1st at 8 PM, ET and hosted by Sugarland vocalist Jennifer Nettles, the two-hour program celebrates the holidays with some of the biggest names in music performing holiday classics.

Joining Tyler and Paisley are Alan Jackson, Dan + Shay, Brett Eldredge, Sara Evans, Lucy Hale, Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town, Idina Menzel, Nettles, LeAnn Rimes, Michael W. Smith, and Carrie Underwood.

The special will be taped in front of a live audience on Friday, November 7 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee; tickets for the vent are on sale now.

Tyler is headed to the country music capital in the new year to continue work on his debut solo album.

“I’m going down to Nashville [in] January, February, March, April to write and see what we get,” Tyler revealed recently during a video Q&A with Twitter Music at Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco. “You know, doing an album is kind of like panning for gold. You get so much sand and dirt until you find a little nugget and you work on the nugget. I always go backwards, you know? ‘Living on the Edge,’ why? Or ‘Janie’s Got a Gun,’ why? Who’s Janie? And then it works. You fill in the blanks.”

In 2011, Tyler released a single, “(It) Feels So Good”, which debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at No. 35, the highest charting song by any member of Aerosmith since 2001's "Jaded".

Last fall, the singer said he was in talks with Rick Rubin to produce his solo debut.
