Guns N’ Roses reunion shows rumored

The first of many likely Guns N’ Roses reunion rumors has surfaced just days after Slash confirmed that he and Axl Rose were on friendly terms again.

“I heard the most amazing rumor this week, from a very well informed heavy hitter in the Australian music industry, giving me the name of the headline act for Soundwave next year,” James Young, the owner of Melbourne’s rock and roll Cherry Bar, tells Triple M radio. “Now we know that a mystery band has come in and saved the festival, and now owns it, so they are going to have a big say. So what mega band could it be?

“Well I have heard ‘fantasized’ on Wednesday night that it will be: Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen, Slash and Axl Rose, the reformation of the original 1987 Appetite for Destruction Guns N’ Roses lineup, can you believe it? It’s incredible; I’ve had sleepless nights fantasizing about it.”

The travelling Soundwave Festival has scaled back in recent years, dropping Perth from a routing across Australia that typically includes dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

This past week, Slash confirmed that he and Rose are on speaking terms again after decades of public animosity.

"It was probably way overdue, you know,” the guitarist told Sweden’s Aftonbladet TV. “But it's…. you know, it's very cool at this point. You know, let some of that, sort of, negative… dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long."

Asked if a Guns N’ Roses reunion might be in the cards, Slash said “Oh, I couldn't answer that one” before adding, “All right, let's get off the subject, 'cause, you know, that's an old one.”

Guns N’ Roses recently underwent a lineup change with guitarist DJ Ashba leaving the lineup to focus on Sixx:AM and word that guitarist Ron ‘Bumbelfoot’ Thal left the group in 2014 following the band’s 2014 residency at the The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
