Lou Gramm to reunite with Foreigner during 40th anniversary tour

Original Foreigner singer Lou Gramm has confirmed plans to reunite with his former band during their newly-announced 40th Anniversary tour this summer, just a day after publicly stating that he had not been officially asked to do so in a story first broken by hennemusic.

“After the past 24 hours of some crossed wires and miscommunication, I can confirm that I and the rest of the original band have been invited to join Foreigner for a song or two at any show during this 4Oth anniversary year,” Gramm posted Monday on his social media sites. “Dennis Elliot and Rick Wills will be in St Augustin, FL on 2/24. Ian McDonald, Al Greenwood and I will perform at a date yet to be determined. Thank you for your Patience & understanding.”

The confusion began when Foreigner officially announced its tour Sunday and plans to reunite with the five original members, with founder Mick Jones telling Billboard, “They're not on the whole tour, but there will be some appearances."

Gramm saw the story and responded on Facebook, writing, “I have not been asked to join any part of the summer 40th Foreigner Anniversary Tour 2017.”

Gramm handled vocals from 1976–1990 and from 1992–2003, while Greenwood and McDonald were in Foreigner’s lineup from 1976 to 1980.

Drummer Elliott was an original member when Jones formed the band in New York in 1976, and he and bassist Wills made up Foreigner’s rhythm section from 1979 to 1992.

Foreigner’s 40th anniversary summer US tour will begin in Syracuse, NY on July 11 with shows running to September 9 in Auburn, WA; the bill will see the group joined by Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience.

A Foreigner Fan Club three-day presale starts January 10, while Citi Cardmember, Live Nation and Facebook presales happen prior to general tickets going on sale January 13; check LiveNation.com for further details.

Foreigner will launch their 2017 live schedule in Lake Charles, LA on January 27 with their current lineup of Jones, vocalist Kelly Hansen, bassist Jeff Pilson, guitarists Thom Gimbel and Bruce Watson, keyboardist Michael Bluestein and drummer Chris Frazier.
