Van Halen: Wolfgang Van Halen streams solo album preview

Wolfgang Van Halen is sharing a brief audio clip as the latest preview to his forthcoming debut album.

In a social media post entitled “bass and drums”, the 30-second snippet presents a portion of a track from the project, which the Van Halen bassist worked on with producer Michael Baskette (Alter Bridge).

The Van Halen bassist has confirmed that he is playing all instruments on the set, including vocals; his father, Eddie Van Halen, first broke the news about the project in early 2015.

The bassist previously shared audio previews of material from the record in August and December of 2017, with Baskette announcing the album’s completion in July 2018.

"There are no words to describe the sense of excitement and accomplishment of finishing the last mix on this amazing record I just produced for the mega talented wolf van halen,” tweeted Baskette at the time. “It’s so awesome and I’m super proud of it on all levels. It’s been a long time coming but it will be very worth the wait! Proud of you... love ya @wolfvanhalen #grateful."

While the Van Halen prodigy signed a deal with Explorer1 Music Group for the album earlier this year, no official timetable for the set’s release has been revealed to date.

"I'm working on it!,” replied Wolfgang to a fan’s Twitter inquiry about the project this week. “The state of the world has really thrown a wrench into how I saw this releasing (given that no touring is able to happen until this all blows over), but I have a few ideas that I'm really excited about, so stay tuned!!"

Van Halen have been on an extended hiatus since the completion of a 2015 tour, with a number of reports last year indicating that Eddie is being treated for throat cancer.
