Wolfgang Van Halen debut single Distance tops iTunes chart

Wolfgang Van Halen’s debut single, “Distance”, topped the iTunes Top 100 songs chart in its first day of release.

Dedicated to his late father, Eddie Van Halen, the track is the first preview of the forthcoming album by the rocker’s new band Mammoth WVH.

"#1 on @iTunes. Not just rock, but overall. I'm speechless,” tweeted Wolfgang. “The response to Distance has been mind-blowing and I'm so thankful for each and every one of you. Know that the weight of this moment is not lost on me. Thank you. Wish you were here for this, Pop."

Eddie passed away on October 6 at the age of 65 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

“As my pop continued to struggle with various health issues, I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him,” explains Wolfgang of the song’s origins. “While the song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their life.

“I never intended ‘Distance’ to be the very first piece of music people would hear from me, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release. This is for him. I love and miss you, Pop.”
