Rock News Artist of The Year No. 9 – THE DOOBIE BROTHERS

In June, The Doobie Brothers announced some additional US midwest dates for their 50th Anniversary Tour, which would see Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, John McFee and Michael McDonald reunite on the road together for the first time in over 25 years.

In July, the band streamed video of a new live version of their 1976 classic, “Takin’ It To The Streets”, in honor of the album’s 45th anniversary.

August saw the group preview tracks from their forthcoming new album, “Liberte”, ahead of its arrival in the fall.

The following month, The Doobie Brothers postponed a few US concerts after a member of their touring personnel tested positive with COVID-19 despite health and safety precautions in place.

The band rocked a pair of classic tracks on the September 23 episode of ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live, while also sharing even more exclusive performance footage from the evening.

On October 1, The Doobie Brothers issued their fifteenth studio record – and first since 2014’s “Southbound” – which was co-produced by John Shanks and the group.
