Green Day stream Elvis Costello cover in Nimrod reissue preview

Green Day are streaming audio of a previously-unreleased demo of a cover of the 1977 Elvis Costello classic, “Alison”, as the latest preview to an upcoming series of expanded 25th anniversary editions of their 1997 album, “Nimrod.”

Due January 27 in 5-CD, 3-LP and digital sets, the release will include the original album, one disc of previously unreleased “Nimrod” demos, and a live set from Philadelphia recorded one month after the album was released.

The live album was recorded at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia on November 14, 1997, featuring a 20-song set that includes several songs from “Nimrod”, plus fan favorites from their previous albums and singles.

The band’s fifth studio album was driven by the hit singles “Hitchin’ A Ride”, “Redundant”, “Nice Guys Finish Last” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” the latter of which has sold 5 million copies in the US alone.

The album has sold over 3 million copies in the US (triple platinum) and has been certified multi-platinum, platinum, or gold in several other countries, including the UK, Japan, Canada, Australia, and Spain.

Green Day will next be seen performing at the Innings Festival in Tempe, AZ on February 25.
