The Boston band’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 5, 1998, and stayed there for four weeks.
Ironically, the tune wasn’t written by anyone in the band; the songwriter was Diane Warren.
Steven Tyler talks about the song’s success as part of Billboard’s 1000 No. 1’s series
"It was a shock, not because we had our first No. 1," said Tyler. "But because it was our only No. 1. I thought that [of] all those other Aerosmith songs, at least one or two did."
