Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett was on hand Thursday at the AMC Mayfair theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to introduce the band’s new 3D film, "Through The Never", during its September 26-28 opening weekend, and video of Hammett’s appearance has surfaced.
Metallica members spread out across select IMAX theatres in the U.S. to introduce the movie, which officially opened on Friday for an exclusive week-long run on IMAX screens before expanding to other theaters on October 4.
Hammett’s schedule included stops in Milwaukee, Chicago, Houston and Dallas.
“Through The Never” tells the story of a band crew member named Trip (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena: to meet a disabled truck and retrieve a particular item. However, the routine task turns into a surreal odyssey when Trip's van is hit by another vehicle, and he subsequently finds himself up against a death-dealing horseman. As Trip flees through desolate streets, he has only his wits to help him avoid the deadly horseman and deliver Metallica's cargo.
Last week, Metallica released a companion 2-CD soundtrack to the film.
"Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)" highlights performances from last year's shows at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film.
