“Get practicing your air drumming skills!,” wrote Lee on the Rush Instagram site. “Decide what Rush swag you’ll wear! We’re filming all 4 shows in Toronto!!!!
“It’s always a hard decision as to where to film a live concert. Given the limited cities we are able to play, the demand for such a film has been off the charts, not only as a keepsake of their experience, but for those many fans that have not been able to see it live.
“Toronto being hometown made it a natural choice, and being the last mini-residency of 4 shows, playing over 40 songs which gives us the best chance to capture it all.
“We know there are fans traveling here from all across the globe and that will make it a special week,” adds Lee. “This tour, being a celebration of our history and a tribute to Neil has been an emotional outpouring from the fans and from us. They have been louder and prouder than ever before, and we hope to capture them letting their ya-yas out while rockin’ their best “Tom Sawyer” air drum fills!”
Rush opened its Toronto series at the city’s Scotiabank Arena on August 7, with shows to follow on August 9, 11 and 13.
The “50 Something Tour” sees Rush founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson reunite following the passing of Neil Peart in 2020. The new live series has been built as a tribute to the iconic drummer, with the duo joined by acclaimed drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.
The special "evening with" performances feature two sets each night, with Rush building every setlist from a catalogue of 40 songs for this tour spanning the band's celebrated five-decade career across.
