Sammy Hagar expands Lockdown Sessions series with Buffalo Springfield classic

Sammy Hagar And The Circle perform a cover of the 1966 Buffalo Springfield classic, “For What It’s Worth”, in the sixth and latest installment of the band’s “Lockdown Sessions” series.

“OK folks here you go... For What It’s Worth!,” says the group. “Buffalo Springfield had so much talent in one band. This song is one of our favorites. We really had a blast doing this one and experimenting with visual overdubs.”

Written by Stephen Stills, the tune – inspired by civil unrest in the era – reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was later added to second pressings of the band’s self-titled album debut.

Previous Lockdown Sessions have featured an original jam, “Funky Feng Shui”, and versions of classic cuts by The Who, Van Halen, Bob Marley, and AC/DC.

Hagar and The Circle are currently scheduled to begin a US summer tour in support of their latest album, “Space Between”, on July 9 in West Palm Beach, FL.

Neil Young reunites Buffalo Springfield for Bridge School Benefit

Told ya last month about Pearl Jam marking their 20th Anniversary by playing at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concerts this fall….and now, the full artist lineup has been announced.

The BIG news is that Neil is reforming Buffalo Springfield for the event; it will be the first time they’ve played publicly since 1968 (they played privately at Stephen Stills’ house back in 1986). Neil, Stills and Richie Furay will team up for the benefit - bassist Dave Palmer died in 2004 and drummer Dewey Martin died last year. There’s no word on who will fill those slots, or if the band will perform as an acoustic trio.

Buffalo Springfield were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1997.

The concerts are a benefit for the Bridge School, which develops and uses advanced technologies to aid in the instruction of children with disabilities. Young's involvement stems, at least partially, from the fact that both of his sons have cerebral palsy and his daughter, like Young himself, has epilepsy.

The 24th Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert will take place on October 23, 2010 at 5pm and October 24, 2010 at 2pm.

You can help support the Bridge School with your donation here.
