VIDEO: James Durbin rocks Stevie Wonder on American Idol

The kid keeps gettin’ ‘er done.

James Durbin turned in another killer performance on American Idol this week, during Wednesday night’s Motown-themed show.

As the last performer of the evening, Durbin added some rock style to the program, covering Stevie Wonder’s “Living For The City.”

The flawless and energetic performance should assure Durbin is moving on into the Top 10, which means he’ll – at the very least – be a part of Idol’s 2011 summer tour.

As the lone rocker on the series, I still think there are far bigger things ahead for Durbin, and we may see a glimpse of those in the coming weeks. Idol judge Steven Tyler of Aerosmith has already committed to singing a song with Durbin on the series’ finale, if the Santa Cruz, California native makes it that far.

I’m still buzzing on Durbin’s performance of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” from a few weeks ago (see it here).

Idol finale or not, ya gotta think that James is well on his way to some sort of record deal.

Stay tuned.
