James Durbin announces new album Riot On Sunset

James Durbin will release his third album, “Riot On Sunset”, on July 15.

The rocker is previewing the follow-up to 2014’s “Celebrate” with the project’s lead single, “Smackdown.”

“We recorded ‘Smackdown’ as a band,” says Durbin, “all live instruments and zero autotune, which we highly encourage. ‘Smackdown’ is loud, raw and in your face.

“We’ve been grinding away on this album for months now. “It’s hard to believe it’s time to release it to the world on July 15. I feel like I’ve grown a lot in the studio and as an artist. I hope all the fans will enjoy what I have to say on the album as I have truly loved co-writing and co-producing Riot On Sunset.”

Full album details will be revealed soon.

Durbin will launch a summer tour in support of “Riot On Sunset” in Portland, OR on July 18.

James made a name for himself as the standalone rocker on season 10 of American Idol, where he consistently delivering powerhouse performances week in and week out.

The singer recently appeared on Idol’s series-ending finale in April.

Durbin released his debut, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster”, in 2011.

James Durbin releases video for new single Parachute

James Durbin has released a video for “Parachute”, the lead single from his forthcoming sophomore album, “Celebrate”, which is due April 8.

The singer recently completed a month-long acoustic tour to promote the project.

James performed “Parachute” on Conan this past Monday – check it out here.

Durbin made a name for himself as the standalone rocker on season 10 of American Idol, where he consistently delivering powerhouse performances week in and week out.

VIDEO: James Durbin performs Parachute on Raleigh TV

James Durbin performed a stripped-down acoustic version of “Parachute”, the lead single from his forthcoming album, “Celebrate”, on WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday and video is available.

Durbin appeared on the station’s My Carolina Today morning show in advance of his date at the Lincoln Theatre Wednesday evening, part of the singer’s acoustic tour to promote “Celebrate”, which will be released on April 8.

Durbin made a name for himself as the standalone rocker on season 10 of American Idol, where he consistently delivering powerhouse performances week in and week out.

The singer released his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster”, in 2011.

James Durbin releases Parachute lyric video

James Durbin has released a lyric video for his new single, “Parachute”, the lead track from his forthcoming sophomore album, “Celebrate”, due next April.

“Parachute was the 10th song I wrote for the new album,” said James, “and as soon as we finished in the studio, I knew it had to be the first single. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The track marks the first new music from the rocker since his last two singles, “Love Me Bad” and “Stand Up”, were released in 2011. “Love Me Bad” cracked the Top 30 at Hot AC/Top 40 radio while the anthemic NFL rock single “Stand Up” landed in the Top 20.

Durbin made a name for himself as the standalone rocker on season 10 of American Idol, where he consistently delivering powerhouse performances week in and week out.

Essentially the first hard rocker on the reality series to bring heavy metal tunes to the pop-centric series, Durbin released his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster”, in 2011 and toured in support of the project.

Durbin’s debut has sold over 120,000 copies to date and was named one of Billboard’s Best Rock Albums of 2012.

James Durbin announces new single

Rocker James Durbin has announced his return with a new single, “Parachute”, due November 22.

The track is the lead single from his as-yet-untitled sophomore album, which is scheduled for release on April 8, 2014.

“Parachute was the 10th song I wrote for the new album,” said James, “and as soon as we finished in the studio, I knew it had to be the first single. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The forthcoming single marks the first new music from the rocker since his last two singles, “Love Me Bad” and “Stand Up”, were released in 2011. “Love Me Bad” cracked the Top 30 at Hot AC/Top 40 radio while the anthemic NFL rock single “Stand Up” landed in the Top 20.

“Stand Up” was an official NFL anthem used on jumbotrons nationwide during the NFL’s 2011-12 seasons.

Durbin made a name for himself as the standalone rocker on season 10 of American Idol, where he consistently delivering powerhouse performances week in and week out.

Essentially the first hard rocker on the reality series to bring heavy metal tunes to the pop-centric series, Durbin released his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster”, in 2011 and toured in support of the project.

James Durbin issues lyric video for Santa Claus Is Back In Town

Last month, rocker James Durbin released a high-energy cover of Elvis Presley’s “Santa Claus Is Back in Town.”

Now, Durbin has issued a lyric video for the holiday-themed tune.

"One day while we were writing and recording the new record in Nashville, and we sat down with our producer James Michael and started jamming on this song,” explained Durbin. “We found this killer, Van Halen-esque punk hybrid sound, and decided to record.”

"Except for the background vocals, it's all one take, hence my cough and [drummer] Jeff Fabb's opening line, 'One take, come on,'” adds James. “We just hope everyone has as much fun with the song as we did, and has a very Merry Christmas."

Durbin's sophomore album is due out on Wind-Up Records in May 2013.

James Durbin covers Elvis Presley on new holiday single

James Durbin has the jump on the holiday season with the release of his new single, a high-energy cover of Elvis Presley’s “Santa Claus Is Back in Town.”

"[It] has ALWAYS been my favorite Christmas song," James tells Yahoo Music. "It's Elvis, and who doesn't like Elvis? Ha!"

VIDEO: James Durbin unplugs for Los Angeles radio

James Durbin continues to tour in support of his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

The American Idol rocker has been playing shows around California this week, and stopped by L.A. radio station 104.3 MYfm for an interview and performance session.

Durbin and crew ran through a few songs, including the album’s lead single, “Love Me Bad,” and the bonus track “Crawling Home.”

“It’s [Crawling Home] a song I wrote with DJ Ashba [Guns N' Roses, Sixx A.M.],” explained James earlier this year. “It didn’t make the album; it was a bonus track for pre-ording the album. Hopefully we can include it on something in the future. It’s a song about being on the road - being gone from your family, being gone from the ones you love and the things you love.”

VIDEO: James Durbin debuts new song in concert

James Durbin has spent the first half of the summer on the road touring, separately, with Buckcherry and Drowning Pool, as well as performing his own dates.

Durbin is out playing live music to support the release of his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

Friday night, James played Ridgefest Reloaded in Chicago Ridge, IL on the second night of the four-day event, which also sees Bret Michaels headlining on Saturday.

At Ridgefest, Durbin debuted a new song in his set, “In The Name Of Love.” James performed the track as a solo, acoustic number while seated at center stage.

Durbin plays a few shows in the American southwest next month.

James Durbin continues to bring his music to fans on the road while he supports his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

This week, Durbin announced a series of summer concert dates as he plays all-new shows with Buckcherry and Drowning Pool.

Dates with Buckcherry begin July 1 at Boonstock in Alberta, Canada, while shows with Drowning Pool start July 10 in Indiana.

VIDEO: James Durbin pays tribute to Ronnie James Dio

Last week marked the second anniversary of the passing of music legend Ronnie James Dio.

The Elf/Rainbow/Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell frontman died May 16, 2010 following a lengthy battle with stomach cancer.

Rockers of all kinds took time to salute Dio, including James Durbin, currently out promoting his debut release, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

The American Idol rocker paid tribute to Ronnie during his show in Baltimore on Thursday, performing “Rainbow In The Dark” while opening for Steel Panther.

Durbin has a special connection to Dio: he discovered heavy metal through his music.

"I just remember being a kid, driving around with my mom, and then Dio's 'Holy Diver' came on the radio and it changed everything," Durbin told Noisecreep last fall. "It was the first time I had ever heard a metal song. I loved it right away. From there I just wanted to learn as much about music as I could. Eventually I found the artists that I liked more and stuck with those. I'm talking about Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Motley Crue — you know, the classics.”

VIDEO: James Durbin posts lyric video for Higher Than Heaven

James Durbin is preparing to release “Higher Than Heaven” as the next single from his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

Durbin performed the track on his return to the American Idol stage Thursday evening – watch the footage here.

James has also posted a lyric video for the tune, which features not only the words, but a ‘mini-performance’ of the song by the singer and his band on board a small private jet.

James Durbin announces spring tour dates

James Durbin is hitting the road this spring for a series of live dates in support of his debut album, “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster.”

The shows kick off April 12 in Los Angeles; that same night, Durbin returns to American Idol to perform a track from the record.

Many of Durbin’s spring dates are with Buckcherry; check the schedule below for more details.

The day before the spring tour launches, James is up for Best Vocalist at the Revolver Golden God Awards.

Durbin is going head-to-head for fan votes against Sebastian Bach, Korn’s Jonathan Davis, Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides, and Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch.

VIDEO: James Durbin talks summer tour

James Durbin is gearing up to take his rock show on the road this spring and summer.

New dates are being posted on Durbin’s website, with some shows in April and May now listed.

James has offered an interesting challenge to music fans who might be on the fence about checking him out in concert.

Durbin invites people to contact him via his Facebook page and/or via Twitter, and say to him, “yo, Durbin, I’m hesitant about coming to your show,” he tells Fox News. “If I have a guest list…”
