Red Hot Chili Peppers top the hennemusic Hot 10

There’s lots of interest in new music from the Red Hot Chili Peppers as they top this week’s hennemusic Hot 10.

Early this week, the band released the first single, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” from their upcoming album, “I’m With You,” due out August 30.

Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin, the disc is the band’s first studio album in five years and marks the debut of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in the fall of 2009 following the departure of John Frusciante.

The HH10 is a list of the most-viewed rock news stories in the past week by hennemusic readers.

Beyond the Peppers, there’s also a great deal of interest from Aerosmith fans for new music from that band, as they spend this summer in the studio working on their first album of new music in a decade. The Boston band shared some studio footage from the sessions, helping Aerosmith land at #2 on the HH10.

In at #3, Bruce Springsteen joined J.T. Bowen and the Sensational Soul Cruisers for a 45-minute set at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park last weekend as part of a "Tribute to the Late, Great Clarence Clemons." It was a family affair, as Bowen was the lead singer of Clemons' band, The Red Bank Rockers, in the 1980s, and the show was opened by Clarence’s son, Nick Clemons.

Other new items this week include a Lady Gaga story as she raves about her love of hard rock and heavy metal during press interviews for her latest album. Gaga specifically mentioned Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Iron Maiden as bands that are at the top of her list, while she makes our list at #5.

Also new are Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson receiving an honorary Doctorate Of Music degree from London’s Queen Mary University (#7), and Slash rocking out with Disney’s Phineas and Ferb at #9.
