Red Hot Chili Peppers extend Unlimited Love North American tour

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their Unlimited Love Tour into the summer of 2024.

Following massive 2022 and 2023 tour runs, the band shows no sign of slowing down as they announce their upcoming North America tour slated for next year.

The series is in support of the band’s two 2022 albums: “Unlimited Love” and “Return Of The Dream Canteen”.

The 2024 run kicks off on Tuesday, May 28 in Ridgefield, WA at RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, with stops in Quincy, WA, Salt Lake City, UT, Virginia Beach, VA and more before wrapping up on Tuesday, July 30 at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.

Special Guests Kid Cudi, Ice Cube, Ken Carson, Otoboke Beaver, Seun Kuti & Egypt80, Wand and IronTom will be joining the band on select dates throughout the tour.

After wrapping up dates in North America and Europe last year, the band continued their global trek into 2023 with several dates across New Zealand and Australia in January, followed by another run of shows throughout North America, Europe, the UK, Singapore and Japan earlier this year. Most recently, Red Hot Chili Peppers concluded their sold-out Latin America leg of their 2023 tour with two shows in Buenos Aires.

A City cardmembers presale runs from Tuesday, December 5 at 10 AM local time until Thursday, December 7 at 10 PM local time, while an artist presale will begin Wednesday, December 6 at 10 AM local time and additional presales will run Thursday, December 7 ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday, December 8 at 10 AM local time.

Red Hot Chili Peppers announce new tour dates for Europe and North America

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced new 2023 concert dates in North America and Europe as part of their ongoing Global Stadium Tour.

The series in support of the “Unlimited Love” and “Return Of The Dream Canteen” albums – which will resume in New Zealand in January – has added a spring run in North America and summer shows across Europe.

The North American portion will begin in Vancouver, BC on March 29, with European dates opening with an appearance at the PinkPop festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands on June 18.

A series of artist presales will begin on December 6 with general public tickets going on sale Friday, December 9 at 10 a.m. local time via the band’s website.

“Please note that the Glasgow show originally scheduled for Summer 2022 will now take place at Hampden Park Stadium on Sunday July 23 2023,” adds the band. “Existing tickets remain valid, but will be re-issued for the new venue.”

Produced by Rick Rubin, both 2022 albums debuted atop the charts in several countries.

Red Hot Chili Peppers share Return Of The Dream Canteen bonus track

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are sharing “The Shape I’m Takin’”, a bonus track included in the Japanese editions of their latest album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen.”

First introduced with the lead single “Tippa My Tongue”, the project followed “Unlimited Love” as the California band’s second album of 2022, with both produced by Rick Rubin.

Upon its release last month, “Return Of The Dream Canteen” debuted at No. 1 on the US Top Album Sales chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The Chili Peppers have been supporting both records on a global stadium tour, which will resume in January with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Red Hot Chili Peppers nominated for Best Rock Song Grammy Award

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been nominated for a 2023 Grammy Award in the Best Rock Song category for the track, “Black Summer.”

The lead single from “Unlimited Love” has seen band members Flea, John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith recognized in the songwriter’s category, where they’ll compete alongside tracks recorded by Brandi Carlile (“Broken Horses”), Ozzy Osbourne featuring Jeff Beck (“Patient Number 9”), The War On Drugs (“Harmonia's Dream”), and Turnstile (“Blackout”).

“Unlimited Love” was the first of two albums released by the California band this year; it was followed by the fall arrival of “Return Of The Dream Canteen”, with both projects produced by Rick Rubin and both entering the US charts at No. 1.

The Chili Peppers have been supporting both records on a global stadium tour, which will resume in January with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5, 2023 starting at 8 pm ET on the CBS Network and streamed live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Red Hot Chili Peppers top US album sales with Return Of The Dream Canteen

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have debuted at No. 1 on the US Top Album Sales chart with their new album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen.”

According to Billboard, the Rick Rubin-produced project sold 56,000 albums in its opening week to top the chart, which earns the California band a pair of No. 1s in 2022 – alongside April’s “Unlimited Love” – to become the first group with two No. 1 rock albums on the chart in less than 12 months since 2005 when System Of A Down doubled-up with “Mezmerize” and “Hypnotize.”

Introduced with the lead single, “Tippa My Tongue”, “Return Of The Dream Canteen” also lands at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 63,000 equivalent album units earned, including 7,000 streaming equivalent albums; each SEA unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

The Chili Peppers recently wrapped up the North American leg of a global stadium tour in support of both albums; they will resume the series in January 2023 with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Red Hot Chili Peppers debut video for new single The Drummer

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are debuting a video for “The Drummer”, the latest single from their newly-released album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen.”

The song follows “Tippa My Tongue” and the Eddie Van Halen tribute, “Eddie”, as the third clip issued from the project, which follows “Unlimited Love” as the group’s second record of 2022.

“Unlimited Love” delivered the Chili Peppers their first US No. 1 since 2006’s “Stadium Arcadium.”

The band will resume their global stadium tour in January with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are streaming their new album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen”, in sync with its release on October 14.

First introduced with the lead single “Tippa My Tongue”, the project follows “Unlimited Love” as the California band’s second album of 2022, with both produced by Rick Rubin.

“Return of the Dream Canteen feels like a nod to the creative prosperity of a psychedelic desert,” says the group. “Something about the four of us wandering into a time and place that had less definition than normal led to more music. We just kept sipping away. The canteen was generous.

“Just when a blubberously funky baseline seemed like it might lie dormant without a dance partner, its song fellows would show up to party. John’s tenacious focus on treating every song as though it was equal to the next helped us to realize more songs than some might know what to do with. In a world where a single track release is typical, we decided to release back to back double records. We feel good about it. Pass the canteen.”

The Chili Peppers will wrap up the North American leg of a global stadium tour in support of both albums with an appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX on October 16, after which they will resume the series in January 2023 with shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Rush share Working Man video from Taylor Hawkins Tribute concert

Rush are sharing a snippet of pro-shot video of a performance of “Working Man” from their recent appearance at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in Los Angeles, CA on September 27.

When the Rush members took the stage following an introduction by Jack Black, Dave Grohl joined them on drums alongside producer/keyboardist Greg Kurstin for the 1976 classic, “2112 Part I: Overture"; Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers stepped in for “Working Man”, with Danny Carey of Tool on board for the classic instrumental “YYZ.”

"For the first time since August 1st, 2015 we returned to the stage at the LA Forum, scene of the very last performance with our lost brother [drummer] Neil [Peart],” shares Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. “This time it was for the second Taylor Hawkins Tribute and sitting behind the throne were 3 wonderful human beings, who also happen to be spectacular drummers.. Dave Grohl, Chad Smith and Danny Carey…. Talk about being spoiled… but the best, yet bittersweet part of this whole deal is that no one would have loved witnessing that more Taylor himself.

“Rest In Peace Hawk, as we keep Alison, Shane, Annabelle and Everleigh Hawkins along with the entire Foos Family in our thoughts."

Lee and Lifeson had previously performed at the London, UK tribute to Hawkins on September 3.

Red Hot Chili Peppers stream Eddie Van Halen tribute song

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are streaming “Eddie”, a new Eddie Van Halen tribute song from their forthcoming album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen.”

“Sometimes we don’t realize how deeply affected and connected we are to artists until the day they die,” explains Anthony Kiedis. “Eddie Van Halen was a one of a kind. The day after his death, Flea came into rehearsal with an emotional bassline. John, Chad and I started playing along and pretty soon with all our hearts, a song in his honor effortlessly unfolded. It felt good to be sad and care so much about a person who had given so much to our lives.

“Although the song doesn’t speak to Eddie by name, it talks about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted on our minds. In the end, our song asks that you not remember Eddie for dying but for living his wildest dream.”

Eddie Van Halen passed away in 2020 at the age of 65.

Due October 14, “Return Of The Dream Canteen” will follow “Unlimited Love” as the California band’s second album of 2022, with both produced by Rick Rubin.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently playing a series of dates on the North American leg of a global stadium tour in support of their two latest studio records.

Red Hot Chili Peppers preview Eddie Van Halen tribute song

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are sharing a preview of a new Eddie Van Halen tribute song, “Eddie”, ahead of its release on September 23.

The band makes a number of references to the late rock icon and his history throughout the song, which follows “Tippa My Tongue” as the second single from their forthcoming album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen.”

Eddie Van Halen passed away in 2020 at the age of 65 from a stroke and other issues following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Due October 14, “Return Of The Dream Canteen” will follow “Unlimited Love” as the California band’s second album of 2022, with both produced by Rick Rubin.

Red Hot Chili Peppers named Global Icon at 2022 MTV Video Music Awards

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were honored with a Global Icon Award during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28.

Prior to receiving the honor from Cheech and Chong, the band delivered their first VMA performance in over two decades with versions of “Black Summer’ from the 2022 album, “Unlimited Love”, and “Can’t Stop” from 2002’s “By The Way.”

During the band’s acceptance speech, as Rolling Stone notes, drummer Chad Smith remembered his late colleague and friend, Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.

“There’s another musical icon, global icon, and his name is my brother Taylor Hawkins,” Smith said after taking the mic from Anthony Kiedis. “I want to dedicate this to Taylor and his family. I love them, and I miss him every day. Fly on, Hawk. Fly on, brother.”

Smith will be among the artists appearing at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert on September 27 at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles, which will follow a September 3 event at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The Chili Peppers also won the Best Rock award at the MTV event, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

The band is currently playing shows on the North American leg of a global stadium tour in support of “Unlimited Love”; they will release another new album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen”, on October 14.

Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream.

“When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return of the Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It's packed. Made with the blood of our hearts.”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will release a new album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen”, on October 14.

The band announced their second record of 2022 – following “Unlimited Love” – during a July 23 concert at Denver's Empower Field, which marked the opening night of the group’s North American tour.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will continue the tour through California with a special hometown performance in Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, then through Chicago, Toronto, and more before wrapping up the North American leg in Arlington, TX on Sunday, September 18 at Globe Life Field. A roll call of some of the most acclaimed, eclectic and vital artists across various genres - including HAIM, Beck, Thundercat, The Strokes, King Princess, St. Vincent and Post Malone - will be joining the band on select dates.

The band launched a global stadium tour last month with their European leg at Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja in Seville, Spain on Saturday, June 4; the concert marked their first show back with guitarist John Frusciante in 15 years and the kickoff to the band's first ever stadium tour.

Red Hot Chili Peppers cancel Glasgow concert due to illness

The Red Hot Chili Peppers cancelled a July 1 concert in Glasgow just hours before the event due to an unspecified "illness."

“Due to illness RHCP will not be able to perform in Glasgow tonight July 1st,” advised the band on social media. “We are working on ways to reschedule this show. Please hold onto your tickets and wait for an update soon. RHCP love Scotland and are deeply disappointed not to be able to perform the show. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

No further details were provided regarding whether it was a band member or someone in their touring party that was affected by the health issue that pre-empted the appearance at the city’s Bellahouston Park; the group are next scheduled to perform at Belgium’s Rock Werchter festival on July 3.

The Peppers are on the road in support of their latest album, “Unlimited Love”; produced by Rick Rubin, the group’s twelfth studio album sees members Anthony Kiedis, Flea and Chad Smith reunite with guitarist John Frusciante for the first time since his departure in 2009.

The project topped both the UK and US charts, among others, upon its release in April.

Red Hot Chili Peppers stream Unlimited Love bonus track Nerve Flip

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are streaming “Nerve Flip”, an exclusive Japanese bonus track from their latest album, “Unlimited Love.”

The song surfaces in sync with the launch of the band’s global stadium tour in Seville, Spain on June 4.

Produced by Rick Rubin, “Unlimited Love” marks the Chili Peppers’ first US No. 1 since 2006’s “Stadium Arcadium.”

The group’s twelfth studio album sees members Anthony Kiedis, Flea and Chad Smith reunite with guitarist John Frusciante for the first time since his departure in 2009.

Red Hot Chili Peppers top US charts with Unlimited Love

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have topped the US charts with their new album, “Unlimited Love.”

According to Billboard, the record enters the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with first week sales of 97,500 equivalent album units to mark the largest week for any rock album since Paul McCartney’s 2021 set, “McCartney III” (which debuted at No. 2 in January of last year with 107,000 units, of which album sales comprised 104,000).

A breakdown of the “Unlimited Love” sales by category lists 82,500 album sales, with streaming equivalent units of 14,500 (equaling 18.96 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs); and track equivalent albums units comprise 500.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Produced by Rick Rubin, “Unlimited Love” marks the Chili Peppers’ first US No. 1 since 2006’s “Stadium Arcadium.”

A few days ago, the project debuted at No. 1 in the UK, and has since scored Top 3 success in more than a dozen countries.

Red Hot Chili Peppers top UK charts with Unlimited Love

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have topped the UK charts with their new album, “Unlimited Love.”

According to the Official Charts Company, the Rick Rubin-produced project debuts at No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart Top 100 to earn the group their fifth chart-topper in the region.

“Unlimited Love” also delivers a second No. 1 for the band this week as it tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40.

The group’s twelfth studio album sees members Anthony Kiedis, Flea and Chad Smith reunite with guitarist John Frusciante for the first time since his departure in 2009.

“Unlimited Love” was launched with the lead single, “Black Summer.”

The Chili Peppers will launch a global stadium tour in support of the record in Seville, Spain on June 4.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea performs national anthem at NBA game

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea performed a solo rendition of the US national anthem prior to a Los Angeles Lakers’ NBA home game on April 3.

The rocker – who appeared at center court with a customized bass featuring the Lakers’ logo and colours – later revealed that he personalized his unique version for one of the team’s icons who was in attendance at the city’s Crypto.com Arena.

“I was so happy to have had a brief conversation with Kareem Abdul Jabbar before I walked out there,” shared Flea on Instagram a few days later, with video footage filmed by his wife. “Knowing Kareem’s deep love for, and knowledge of jazz, I told him I would do a Charlie Parker riff, which I did in the second stanza (on the word ‘fight’.)

“Anthony, Chad and I were there and excited (John was excited at home) about the new Rhcp album UNLIMITED LOVE and everyone got a bitchin RHCP hoops shirt.”

Flea’s appearance took place two days after the Chili Peppers’ released their new album, “Unlimited Love.”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are streaming their new album, “Unlimited Love”, in sync with its release on April 1.

Produced by Rick Rubin, the band’s twelfth studio set marks the follow-up to 2016’s “The Getaway”, which was a Top 3 album in more than twenty counties, including the US, where it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

“Unlimited Love” was launched with the lead single, “Black Summer”, and previewed with follow-up tracks “Poster Child”, “Not The One”, and “These Are The Ways” ahead of its full release.

The project sees the return of guitarist John Frusciante, who rejoined the lineup in 2019 after the group parted ways with Josh Klinghoffer.

“Our only goal is to get lost in the music,” says the band. “We spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could. Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better. Days, weeks and months spent listening to each other, composing, jamming freely, and arranging the fruit of those jams with great care and purpose. The sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words and melodies had us enrapt.
