Metallica top the hennemusic Hot 10

A documentary involving Metallica’s James Hetfield led the way with rock fans this week as it took top spot on the hennemusic Hot 10.

Directed by Justin Hunt, “Absent” studies the effects of absent fathers and the negative effect the ‘father wound’ leaves on society. Hetfield talks openly in the film about his father abandoning the family when James was just 13.

The HH10 is a list of the most-viewed rock news stories in the past week by hennemusic readers.

At #4, former Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm is not a fan of his old band working with a ‘soundalike’ singer in Kelly Hansen, and he offers his comments in a new interview this week.

A Swedish rock radio station did things up this past week with a listener-voted top 666 songs of all time, with Deep Purple taking the #1 slot (see #5).

Other big news this past week included the cancellation of Australia’s Soundwave Revolution festival, a short 8 weeks before its launch (#6); Slash being honored next month by a host of musicians for his work with Road Recovery, including a few former members of Guns N’ Roses (#7); video of the full set by Foo Fighters at last weekend’s Lollapalooza, which became a shorter story featuring a number of songs, after the set was yanked from youtube (#8); and New York Yankee Derek Jeter stopped by the studio to visit Aerosmith and to make sure that new album will be done in time for the band’s fall dates (#9).
